Im not saying it was a smart or good pass. It was a bad pass, but it still should have been caught. Byrd had more than enough time to secure it.

No he did not....he had to adjust to the wrong shoulder to even get his hands on it, and while contorting his body to bail Lee out yet again he was filet'd by the linebacker, while simultaneously being decapitated by the safety....Jerry Rice and Terrell Owens could have a baby, and somehow Randy Moss and Marvin Harrison could have a baby, and those babies would somehow meet and "fuuuuuck," and that baby still would not have caught that pass.

It was a terrible throw and Byrd was hung out for the cleaners. The "hands touch it you better catch it" philosophy is bull **** when you are asking a kid to expose his entire torso and head to SEC defenders while having to adjust to a poorly thrown ball; one that shouldn't have even been thrown in the first place.

Judging by the WR's we've had that made it to the NFL, but Buster Davis was MUCH more of a consistant pass catcher, and he's not even seeing the field much.

Doucet was better at the same point that LaFell is currently in, and HE's not getting a whole lot of playing time....

LaFell needs to learn from Bowe--who also struggled with easy catches. I know Bowe's problem was his eyes, and when he got the surgery to correct it, he was MUCH better.

    LaFell needs to return, IMO.

Hard to blame him if you look at everything. Already has a NC ring, is the last of this generation of WRs, will be ushering in an entirely new regime at the position next year, with Toliver, Tolliver, Benton, Bell, etc. stepping in...Yet more uncertainty at QB for next season with Shep added to the mix, a young o-line....

He might see this as his best chance to leave all things considered.

Then again, he could come back as a senior leader at the WR position and mentor Benton/Randle/Bell whoever else and put up a Dwayne Bowe-type senior season. I don't think he'll have much chance at drastically improving his stock but he could play his way into the first round with one more year of polishing, provided he gets enough looks as the lone veteran in a crowded WR corps. His body is NFL ready, he already looks polished but he has room to improve in a few facets.

If he stays we will have one hell of a WR corps.
