huh? What Louisiana passed was about noise reduction devices. Maybe the author crossed 'em up. "Provides for the use of sound suppressors in hunting." Read that link.
So what? We can't just ignore common-sense gun safety measures because of that! Not many people know how to go buy a gun "on the street"? Can you just go out on the street in Broadmoor and buy a weapon? I didn't think so. Street gangs have them maybe. But these lunatic mass killings are not done by street gangs, they are done by lunatics who just go buy a gun at Wal-Mart and walk out after a 5-minute background check. Can you see Roof going down to the hood to buy a pistol from the Crips?
The issue is, all the talk from the liberal side, that is the side that wants to do something constructive, though often times its prohibitive, is focused on the gun. Sorry, guys but the GOP is obstructing this one! If we put through tough measures to get a gun, and very, very tough punishments if you used on in a crime, I think the "nation" would go for it. There is too much "nothing" from one side and "you guys are gun nuts" from the other. You can't fix this by trying to fix guns alone, you have to fix the people, too! What frustrates lil ol me, is that there is seldom talk of coming down hard on folks that use guns (in criminal activity), just making if more difficult (not necessarily a bad thing) for law abiding folks to get one. And I realize what I am talking about does not address mass killings, but mass killings are the tiny tip of the gun problem iceberg.
We can't even enforce the laws we do have. Perfect example. Dylan Roof. Shouldn't have been allowed to buy a gun because of his record, got one anyway. And remember these recent shootings have all involved handguns. What happens when laws are created to keep people who the state or government deem mentally incapable of carrying a gun, are we going to tell all the service men and women who have seen combat they can't have guns because of PTSD? who is going to make these determinations? Imagine going to war for your country and then returning to find out your 2nd amendment rights have been revoked because the government thinks you shouldn't have one due to PTSD?
Not necessarily in Broadmoor but in other areas, yes, I could. Despite his racist rantings, Roof had some black drinking buddies.
Look, I don't know what some coonass out of Catahoula wants to call it, he can call it a chili dog if he likes. A suppressor is to control the action of the muzzle as well as flash, it has nothing to do with sound or report. A silencer does that and I'm pretty sure they are illegal in all 50
You are referring only to illegal guns. You want to buy a gun with no background check? Legally? Pick up a local Thrifty Shopper type rag. There are ads for guns. Some by licensed firearms dealer that would require a background check and some by just people who have a gun they want to sell. I once bought a .38 special from such an ad. When I got to the guy's house I found out he was an EBRP deputy sheriff. He didn't ask me for any ID or anything. I gave him the cash and he gave me the pistol. Or go to a gun show. Besides the many licensed dealers there are regular folks who want to sell guns.
You can fasten the nipple from a baby bottle to the barrel of a .22 rifle. Just make a low phhhtt sound. But it only works once. I've seen it done.
