I don't think the Edwards Dems are going to support Blanco in the next race. Whether they choose to support Mitch has yet to be determined. Likely, they will try someone like Chris John from Crowly. The Edwards Dems control alot of the state, and are quite unhappy they Kathleen reneged on many, if not all, of her promises to them.

In short, don't spite the hand that feeds you. The Edwards Dems got her elected, and they will ensure she doesn't get re-elected. Plus, if you lose the solid black dem vote in NO (which is entirely likely, pending litigation), it will be hard for any dem to get elected, (Blanco, Mary, Mitch, etc).

With that said, if Fast Eddie gets out on appeal and runs, he will win. The state never ran better in the last 40 years.

 

To make a statement like that about Edwards The State Never Ran Better. It just shows how ignorant a lot of the South Louisiana voters are. The man was and is a crook. Stole millions from the State of Louisiana and just because he was honest about being a crook you think he did a good job.

That is exactly why the State is in the shape its in right now. Thinking like this. Lets see who is the most corrupt idiot running and lets vote for them.

So you get people who dont do good for the state . Wonder why your boy Eddie didnt shore up the levy's since he was so good and all.

I guess he was too busy taking that money and going to Vegas on it. Oh and maybe some went to his Attorneys to defend himself from all the indictments.

Kathleen Blanco is a disgrace to Louisiana . But i guess thanks to the Dems of South La. we are getting used to our Gov. being the laughing stock of the country.

Funny that Blanco got elected but no one in Louisiana voted for her. I want a recount .

Actually, the majority of people who voted for her probably do not have the internet - and not because of Katrina! :lsup:

 

I never said the man wasn't a crook. I just never said. The State did run better, regardless of how much money was pocketed/stolen/etc. It ran better than under Roemer, it ran better than under Blanco, Treen unfortunately served during the oil bust, and Foster, while doing some good in his first term, was nothing but a disappointing duck in his second.

Don't forget, Edwards was a successful attorney and self-made millionaire long before he was targeted by Eddie "I want my 10 minutes of fame with my funny chapeau" Jordan.

You need to rethink your statement about why the levees weren't shored up. La gov't is a corrupt system that fostered since the days of the Kingfish. You can't hang the levee wrap on Edwards, Foster, Blanco, or any one else. Its a system problem. For example, You have a friend with no experience whom you owe a favor to. What do you do? That's right. You stick him on the levee board. Nice dinners, nice trips for meetings. Its all part of the system, the broken system. Why can a consolidated levee board fly through the Senate and get killed in the House? Broken system.

And Quid Pro Quo. Would David Duke have shored up the levees? Because that's who would have been elected. Can't say he would have been any less corrupt than any other elected official. He just had a different agenda. What could Bobby have done in a year and a half? Not much, I'm afraid.

You obviously don't understand very much about Louisiana politics and how the parties get people elected in this state. Blanco is a prime example. She never could have beaten Jindal without classic La politics. The Edwards Dems are the ones who got her elected. The ones who took out the 11th hour cheap shots at Jindal. Those same Edwards Dems are the ones who will ensure she never gets elected again. Not because of the storm, but because she failed to live up to her promises to said Edwards Dems.

My mom lost her house. My sister lost her house. Sh!t happens and we move on. That's what my grandpa did after Betsy. He moved on, with a wife and 4 young kids. He didn't do it with any federal hand outs. He just did it. They will repair the levees, and wait for the next big one to come. All the while, praying that they hold this time.

And so you know, I am a registered Republican, but a moderate who hates to see my tax dollars pissed away into a broken system. The people who now say they didn't vote for her, aren't saying they voted for Bobby. They are only saying they didn't vote for her. Hmmm...Recount indeed.
