My "compassion" for the innocent unborn is not "pseudo", my friend. My 18 year old son had a twin who miscarried early in the pregnancy. Every day, I wonder what he would have become had he lived. Note, I did not say that I wonder what it would have become had it lived.
I'm very sorry to hear that. I should state that I, in no way, encourage abortion. I am pro-life. But I don't think that the government should have the power to tell others that they can't make their own choice, and thus subjecting the child to either a hellish life of neglect or the unimaginable life of an orphan, caught up in a poorly run governmenrt foster system. Of course, there are cases like loco's nephew that he mentioned. And that is awesome to hear about. But unfortunately, most cases don't turn out like that. The 'pseudo' jab stems from the fact that most pro-lifers are compassionate when it comes to things like this. But if the child is born to unwanted, poverty-striken parents and is basically raised on the streets, the same people want to deny them government assistance and are the first ones to say 'fry their ass' if they commit a heinous crime. Nature vs nurture? I think its both. But to deny that most people are a product of their environment is insane.
I, personally, am pro-life; i.e. I would never want my girlfriend/wife to have an abortion. Maybe a pro-life/choice...do whatever you must to label me and thrust me in with all the others that you don't like. I don't really care.
i dont dislike either group. i respect both sides. but i think you would be classified as pro choice, given the way we generally define it.
You're right. I was just trying to relay that, if ever faced with the decision, there is no way in hell I would ever allow my child to be aborted. Somehow, I get the feeling that most people think 'pro-choicers' do not feel this way.
