I found this timeline...well, let's go with amusing. https://twitter.com/jemelehill/status/857233496024252416
ESPN has been political for a long time. Their dalliance with Rush Limbaugh was a travesty....they had the next Howard Cosell on their hands, if they had been smart enough to realize it.
Speaking of hockey ... ESPN fired their NHL crew in the middle of the freakin' Stanley Cup finals! Tell me where the rhyme or reason is there?
Damn russillo was good and apolitical. That doesn't fit in with the liberal shit stain that's become espn. And kanell had grown onto his role pretty well. God they have some insufferable unlistenable sjws all over the network now. That trio of chicks with Spain and whoever else when im trying to get my sports fix. Can't listen for 2 minutes.
The current crew at ESPN say things far worse than what Rush said on that broadcast. You may have not liked it, but he hit that proverbial nail with a sledge hammer that night. The media had been, and still does today, clamour to have an African American quarterback do well in the NFL. The NFL does as well as evidenced by guys like Winston.
That's what threw me for a loop when I read this. If you didn't know this, let me edumacate you today. Being white means you value quality programming. When Yahoo posted a story about this yesterday there were over 3000 comments--50% of them saying Jemele and Michael's show needed to go (SC6.)
I know they're ESPN royalty, since they're charter employees, but if they really wanted to make a statement, they would send Berman and Bob Ley out to pasture. But as long as they have their meal ticket, the NFL, I guess they'll keep Berman. (Or is college football their meal ticket?) And does Ley still do those Outside the Line shows? They were mildly interesting, at times, back when I used to watch ESPN. Another one I'm not sure why they decided to keep around is Dan LaBatard. His show painfully awful.
