Haven't read the rulebook, but I believe a coach could be censured or possibly even suspended depending on exactly what he said/did, thus the university possibly docking his pay for the game(s) missed? Then again, I'm no NCAA big shot, but I have stayed in a Holiday Inn Express.

I would agree that the SEC has the power to reprimand or censure the coach and/or the university. I also agree that the university has the power to hit the coach in the wallet. My position was the NCAA didn't.

The Holiday Inn line is a keeper

The rules regarding coaches and critizing refs have been around forever. I had a feeling Saban was leaving watching the Ole Miss game in 2004, we he said to the halftime reporter: "They can fine me, but that call was Bulsh**" which I thought was out of character for him to do that. I believe he was reprimanded and fined $7,000

AGREED! For sure take "Vincent up the middle" out of the play book.

No, you won't hear the coaches blaming the loss on the refs, but behind closed doors, you better believe they'll say it. Do you honestly think they won't be putting together a tape of some of those calls for the SEC office to review? Believe me, I talk to coaches all the time. They say one thing for the microphones, and its rarely what they really feel. As for calls balancing out, I saw
    1. a completed pass for a first down in AU territory overturned by a very quick review, ending a good drive.
    2. a blatant late hit and a blatant interference on the same drive, neither called, leaving up to 30 yards of penalties in the ref's pocket, on a drive where we settled for a long field goal.
    3. a blatant roughing the passer in the third quarter, not called on a third down play, resulting in a punt
    4. a pass interception negated by an interference call, allowing Auburn to sustain a 4th quarter possession for another 2 minutes. Seemed like a good call until (see number 6)
    5. a holding call negating a 22 yard completion for a first down. Replay failed to show holding. The call led us to eat more time off the clock with time winding down, we eventually got the first anyway, but...
    6. the flag picked up at the end zone. Under very similar circumstances to the play in number 4, the refs did a complete 180 on interpreting the rules on how defensive contact with the ball affects interference.

That's 7 plays of big significance to the outcome, all going against LSU. Now tell me the plays that balanced them out, please.

Of course I didn't mean calls balance out in a game. Over the course of a season they tend to balance out.

I can't wait to see what's going to have to happen to balance today out.
