i am going to make no effort to circumvent anything. i dont actually steal books its too much of a hassle. i buy them like mad.

but yes, you can borrow any book i have that is loanable and read it via your ipad. the problem is, of the maybe 30 books i have accumulated on my kindle, only a few of them are loanable. the old ones, i think, i am not sure.

kinda ridiculous, i just went through all 40 of my kindle books, only 3 were loanable

"my korean deli" -which i liked

    "brain cuttings" which was ok

"mencken on mencken", which was good and was published by the file trading homeez at LSU press.

cmon publishers. i own these books, dont i? i can loan things that i own, right?

I know you havent but was wondering if its possible. Not that I would steal any books..or wouldnt. I have enough I havent read of my own.

that is cool you can send them across formats. I didnt think that would be allowed.

another somewhat ****ty thing i just noticed is that it says i can only loan my books once! keep this up publishers, i am not afraid to steal if you are gonna reestrict me like this.

my assumption, and i could be wrong, is that you can read my books on your ipad via kindle software on your ipad.

yeah Im sure thats how. In fact most of mine are thru amazon and not ibooks. I bet I cant loan those out due to apple's craziness.

although I did find a program to remove drm from kindle books just now. it then transfers them all to ibooks in one nice place w/o needing the kindle app. so they become loanable I assume.

There is an program called Calibre that can convert between almost any format. It also acts as library management system so can connect your various devices to it and load books. calibre - E-book management

I use the Aldiko reader on my Android and used Stanza when I had a iPhone (also on the iPad). Those apps can read all the formats rather than being locked into one site like with Kindle.

No, it is not the same. It is the same as your friend loaning you a real book. It has been paid for and the royalties paid. He is free to loan it as much as he wants to, but there is only one book out there to be read so it must be loaned one at a time. likewise your loaned ebook is yours for a period, during which time it is not usable by anyone else. One book or one Ebook = one paid royalties.

Stealing a copy and reproducing it so that two copies exists robs the author of his royalties on that copy. Worse, you pass it on to other thieves and thousands of pirated books exist for which the author gets no pay.

very good sir. and it looks like theres finally a jb for ipad2 upon further inspection. Ill be installing calibre right after if I dont brick the ipad first.

next martin will be loaning me books that Ill delete after 2 weeks.

edit: so this isnt an app. its simply a program you d/l to your computer and transfer to the devices electronically?
