I got the B&N nook a few months back. For those that have an e-book reader look into downloading e-books from your parish library website. Sometimes you have to wait, but it's free.
i have friends that work for harpercollins and random house, and they go to meetings with amazon and they say that amazon basically has them by the balls. amazon is just killing it, making massive profits and pushing the whole industry around. i just bought a korean war history by david halberstam for my kindle. i need to understand the background so i can have something interesting to say about the current situation. dont ever let anyone tell you are not the best mod here. definitely the smartest, most level-headed, and most heterosexual. seriously though, you seem like the kind of man that cries alot.
It's a federal law. You can write all the letters you want but a law is a law and you just need to shut your phone off and quit whining.
You are right that the phone needs to be turned completely off. But It's not about having to turn the phone off that's the issue. It's how this was handled that warrants the letter. Flight attendants are in a service industry and therefore need to behave accordingly. Impatient and combative behavior is not the correct course of action when dealing with customers. He was only trying to explain that he thought he was in compliance by having his phone in airplane mode. A simple quick friendly explanation of the rule would have sufficed.
i love the kindle, and i am pounding out books like they are going out of style, i am on my 32nd book since the summer. i never tire of the kindle. i think it boils down to whether you want backlight or not. i definitely dont. and i dont care about periodicals. plus the battery life on the kindle is so good i feel like i never charge it. nook, being lit and having a bigger processor, requires regular charging. with kindle i am reading multiple books over a period of weeks without charging. plus kindle is really cheap.
ive used that kindle app but its pretty tough reading a book on a phone. i almost bought an ipad2 but i really dont need it. I still may end up getting it. i think it was a 64 gb for like 700 bucks since someone had returned it. it was tempting.
Not to derail the thread, but trust me....get the iPad2. It will change the way you conduct your life. I know that sounds cheesy...but it's true. It's an incredible machine. Also, you probably will use your laptop very little at home anymore.
i am tempted by the ipad, but i dont really need one. hell, i dont need a reader, but my bookshelves are overflowing, and it would be nice to have just to save space. i use the library a lot, but i collect cookbooks (which i love to read for ideas and starting points for experiments in the kitchen since love to cook) and a reader would be a great way to continue that collection. this may be a stupid question because i know pretty much nothing about the kindle or nook. on a kindle can you search keywords? for instance, if i want to look up recipes that contain mango and coconut milk, can i do a keyword search for "mango coconut milk" and bring up recipes containing those items?
