I wouldn't agree totally with this assessment. There definitely is a level of complexity to Crowton's offense. But what I would say is that Crowton will put Lee/Hatch in a position that allows him to succeed. This much I trust with Crowton. For instance, the beautiful play to Dickson against OSU in the title game, all Flynn had to do was play lob with Dickson and it turned into a TD. I am pretty sure Lee or Hatch could make that throw. So while the offense is far from simple, Crowton makes the offense appear "simple" and "effortless" at times. It's the beauty of his mind. He's a genius, people. We're not going to have Lee/Hatch sit back there for 8 seconds for a play to develop. Lots of quick slants and outs, screens, draws, delayed handoffs, misdirection, fade patterns in the red zone, etc. You can see where I am going with this......he won't have his QB back there to get killed or make senseless mistakes. Of couse, as CParso so eloquently put it, the O-line is so talented and so experienced, it is the perfect time to put somebody back there with absolutely no experience. And a stable of running backs to boot and 3-4 outstanding receivers. Throw in the X-factor Holliday. Jesus, can football season start already?
Enlightening! Add to that by running Lee and Hatch in a dual role no different then Flynn/ RP and see if that sucks! Really, the system is in place. Only position being fought for here is starter. Throw it out there. No?
To put it simply we just need a system quarterback, not build a system around a quarterback. I think that either Lee or Hatch can manage that. As has been said several times we have enough strength at each of the other key positions, that whoever gets the starting position will be able to perform well enough to manage the games. Letting the rest of the team win the games.
I agree that the system is in place. However, not sure what the benefit would be using them in a dual role. They are not different style QB's...not like Leak/Timbo or Flynn/Perrilloux. To me, all that would do is disrupt the flow.
id be more worried if we had offensive and defensive line injuries. until then all he has to do is not lose games, because he wont have to win them. if we go down big in a game and need him there might be a problem. but then again that would be a problem anyways.
My guess is we see both during first two games, leader emerges for North Texas, and takes us through the season.
How long have you been watching? I saw Tommy Hodson come in as a redshirt freshman and succeed and I saw Herb Tyler do it, too. And neither of those quarterbacks had the surrounding cast that these new guys will. Will they make some freshman mistakes? Sure. Is LSU in "deep trouble"? No.
if you can remember one spectacular play tee martin made for UT when they hoisted the trophy the year after peyton left (who won nothing), id guess you were lying. flashy quarterbacks in college are like a night-light. they make you feel warm and fuzzy and all secure, yet really offer nothing if all the other pieces arent in place. just a false sense of security. And perrilloux had proven very little only starting 2 games. hes like cecil collins. all myth and folklore but proved very little.
