you guys are right i agree i am just a little stressed about it. i was totally bummed out and a little down....ok i admit i get into lsu football a little too much...i am a resident up at harvard not like i have anything else to do....:LSU231:
I thought both Major Applewhite and Colt McCoy did very well for Texas as freshmen (I honestly pretty much hated both of them for that reason -- seeing a freshmen QB do well, to me, is one of those things I love about college football, and I hated that Texas fans got to enjoy that instead of me). I honestly didn't even realize that Texas had a freshman QB last year. What was his name? And what is up with Texas constantly having to start freshmen QBs in recent history? But as for that OU freshman (Bradford? I have no idea?), that guy is something special. I hate the guy to the point where I actually find his face to be repulsive and ugly, but when I was on another part of the internet discussing the LSU QB situation, and when the OU freshman was brought up, I agreed with the reply that that OU freshman's performance was something special, a very rare occurrence.
Everybody...everybody...stop what you're doing, and LISTEN TO THIS MAN! Excellent point, CParso.:thumb:
IMO...Flynn was not a headliner QB...like CParso said...all that needs to happen is for the QB position to not make mistakes (ala JMR). I really havent seen where Lee or Hatch should not be able to pick up this concept. Also, the OL and HBs are SOLID so that really takes the pressure off the QB. We start with what most will consider a soft 4 games...plenty of time for our QBs to get their feet wet. Not too worried here...i go into this season feeling the same way as last season. oh yeah...defense is still where its at!!!
Look around the West and do you see any QB that has yet to set the world on fire? There are some who have potential, but no one at this point has a guy that cast a long shadow. Take the QB out of the equation for everyone in the West at this point and how do you like your chances? A good to great QB is what everyone wants, but overall, LSU still has the players. Not dissing the D Staff, but I would be more concerned about the loss of CBP. He had a defined track record, the new structure is wait and see. (Another reason I wouldn't worry about the QB situation, CGC is very good)
3* Bradford Sam Bradford - Football Recruiting and 4* Lee Jarrett Lee - Football Recruiting Point is, Lee is not some chump that can't play ball. I know *'s don't settle the issue, but don't ya'll think :milesmic: and company know a little about what they're doing? edit---John, not necessarily aimed at you...just quoted your post because it contained a reference to Bradford.
Of all the posts I have read concerning this topic, I think this is the most insightful post yet. Excellent points.
Amusing that this Texas freshman QB the year before last was the same Colt McCoy I brought up. Shows how much I care about the Big 12. Reality is that next season Colt McCoy will be leading the Longhorns as a redshirt junior. The reason I forgot about him was because despite doing very well as a redshirt freshman, the guy didn't do that great as a redshirt sophomore (18 interceptions), although he was the MVP of the Longhorn's beat-down of Dennis Erickson's Pac-10 Arizona State team in the Holiday Bowl in San Diego, CA.
you gotta have faith emry, better that perilloux get kicked off the team in may than the week before auburn. You know what we need? Six3, We need a Hatch wallpaper!
I would LOVE it if you would break this down and lay out the complete line of reasoning for us, John. That'd be AWESOME!
