Traffic patterns keep me away from the KFC and Popeyes near my home. I will not die for chicken. Churches is always hot and juicy, and I don't have to risk life or limb. Like others, there is a local place that is the best, Dimba's. I get fish and chicken there. I feel like I stepped back in time when I go into that place.
Popeye's all the way. I will agree with MemphisLSUTiger that Gus's Fried Chicken and Catfish in Memphis is some damn good chicken, though!!
Popeye's. They are all pretty good, but Popeye's biscuits, cajun fries & red beans & rice seperate them from the pack.
Churches.....I like that big ole "chicken on steroids." Also like the corn on the cob, mac/cheese, and jalopino "poppers." KFC-the "secret ingredient is "grease." Popeye's--since I have a large family, I sometimes order two or three of the large boxes. Things didn't seem quite right a few times. So I was the cheap-o. Several times, after getting home, I "counted" the actual pieces. It often was "short" one per box. Us'n don't have no chick-fill what ever. When I lived in BR, we would buy our chicken from Churches on Fla. Blvd., cross the street, and buy the mashed potatoes and gravy from KFC. They always looked at me kind of funny when I wouldn't buy any chicken.
