    I don't know . . . Bama has had a lot of big plays this year. I don't know where to find stats on that.

    This. Helmets to the football. Richardson's known for being a battering ram, and we've got the D to stop it. Swarming tackles are the way to stop Richardson which are accomplished by collective closing speed, which we have. Not saying he won't get his yards, but he's going to have to go up the middle and off tackle to get any, and if we can increase the number of ineffective touches by Richardson, it will be a HUGE plus.

    Penalties
    LSU - 6.5 for 55.5 yards per game
    Bama - 3.4 for 29.5 yards per game (and this was after a 10 penalty game vs Tennessee)

    Opponents Penalties

    LSU - 8 for 60.8 yards per game
    Bama - 4 for for 29.1 yards per game (2nd to last in the nation)

    For some reason, Bama is not causing their opponents to get penalized much at all (holding, false starts, delay of games, interference, etc).

    The combination of only 7.4 penalties on average total for both teams for all Bama games is unheard of.

    Opponent's Long Scrimmage Plays:

    10+ Yards:
    LSU = 83 (27th)
    Bama = 50 (1st)

    20+ Yards:
    LSU = 19 (8th)
    Bama = 14 (1st)

    30+ Yards:
    LSU = 6 (6th)
    Bama = 6 (6th)

    40+ Yards:

    * Alabama Opponent's offensive strength much less overall than what LSU has faced this season.

    I posted the information shown below in a thread that was comparing LSU to Bama's defense. These stats don't include last weekend's games but that won't change much about the numbers (Auburn and Tennessee had similiar stats offensively). As you can see, LSU has played decidedly better offenses overall.

    "In talking about strength of offenses and trying to get it closer to an "apples to apples" discussion, we end up with the following statistical breakdown:

    LSU
    Yards Yielded Per Game......254.0
    Opponents Offense............447.0
    Differential........................43.2%

    Points Yielded Per Game......12.5
    Opponents Scoring.............37.0
    Differential........................66.2%

    Alabama
    Yards Yielded Per Game......191.3
    Opponents Offense............349.5
    Differential........................45.3%

    Points Yielded Per Game........7.0
    Opponents Scoring.............27.2
    Differential........................74.3%"
