I would have preferred Brick. Smart would have been a homerun hire. What happened there.

Same here, Steele's defense at Clemson gave up 70pts to W. Virginia in his last game there. Thumbs down!

The more I read the more I believe this hire will ultimately cost Miles his job. Almost anyone would be a better hire, on paper at least. This looks like a disaster.

So I have been pretty quiet. But this is MORE than a bigger disappointment. Anyone saying a coach who was a position coach at Bama was run off from Clemson and his last effort as a DC was I believe his defense gave up 70.
I have been long accused of a Posi-Tiger or Pro Miles blow hard. But I have to be honest this may be the last straw for me. Yes give the man a chance but when a program like LSU has to hire a position coach, a coach who has been run off from every DC position he has had I am trying very hard to see any positive in this.
I am officially off the Miles support train. I quit watching LSU football this year after the 1st half of the Arkansas game as I simply found no joy in watching Anthony Jennings and that offense. End of the day it is supposed to be entertaining
We waited two weeks to hire a DC no one wanted as a DC, once we could have hired for a handshake and 50 bucks two weeks ago.
Anyone saying this is an upgrade from Chavis is lost and confused.
History is there. All you can go on and Steele is an epic fail hire. Position coach maybe but DC of one of the best defenses in college football. A POSITION COACH !!!!!

Nothing happened there, it was never going to happen. What I want to know is where are all of these coaches that supposedly had interest? I find it impossible to believe that Steele was the best candidate interested. WTF is Miles thinking. This guy has failed every chance he's had as DC.

I don't know if this will be a good short term hire, and neither does anyone else until he starts. But I am disappointed that the new hire is 56 years old. I'd hoped for a younger guy.

No one worth a shit is going to come to Baton Rouge knowing what he'll be getting on offense and also knowing that Leslie prolly won't be here in two seasons.

Let it be known January 13th 2015 was the day that the nail which will be hammered into Les Miles LSU coffin revealed itself.

Now Im not worried about what happens after Leslie, I know after Leslie will be rebuilding years. So if the team under performs and the defense finished behind where it finished this past season, coach waterhead's seat should be hotter than it has ever been.
