It was grounds for impeachment, too. But the court was far weaker then than now. Jackson was one of the worst Presidents we ever had.

Congress wasn't and it is where impeachment starts. I agree but he was a force of nature and very interesting.

You understand it was Andrew Jackson not Andrew Johnson right?

About as hypocritical as Republicans being the party of Lincoln. We should do away with both parties.

I wasn't sure because the other Andrew sort of holds that honor. Jackson though flawed had a historic impact as president. In addition to founding the Democrat party (oops you're right he may have been one of the worst) he set precedents that are followed today. He was the first populist to be president. If you check historians' rankings he sits much higher in their eyes.
Why do you claim he was so bad?

Mostly the genocide of the Indians, but he was also a poor administrator. He makes a lot of bad presidents lists. Ignoring the Supreme Court was bad enough. But Jackson also tried to destroy the National Bank by withdrawing federal funds and placing them in state banks when the Supreme Court already said that the bank was Constitutional.

He threatened to hang South Carolinans for not supporting him in this matter, he threatened to hang his own Vice President. Good general and popular for it, but a poor President.
