No dispute...big time news. My point, Chuck was being treated unfairly by being named by certain media outlets without being charged. Rape is a serious crime, no doubt...but if a women cries rape, and no rape was committed, do you think Chuck was given fair treatment? His name is smeared without any proof of him committing such a crime. You should know living here that her claims were false. According to a local publication written by Tim Winbourne found her to be a jilted and messed up women who cried foul many times in the past. Chuck, no doubt in the wrong being associated with married women, but when the facts came out, not a rapist.

My response was to the original thread of UK being a "thug" university like the rest of the SEC East. I disputed the original thread that had the facts wrong and miss-led others. I was only attacking the message, not the messenger. Don't get me wrong, UK has it problems, but I am confident in the AD and the coaches. Any way, Chuck was no longer a member of the team when this supposed to happen. I think it was unfair by the post that a UK player committed such a terrible crime, in which it never happens. I challenge mcmikel to find any different. Google recent articles in the local fish wraps, it will show the women had an axe to grind.

Now, the 3rd string QB situation had not made any news at all. It is not on any UK message sites, made any local news, or any other media outlets. As you know, the Lexington Herald Leader and Louisville JC has had a thing against UK for years and makes any ways to smear the University...started back in the days of the basketball scandal back in the day. Unlike other SEC school local fish wraps that look the other way...local media outlets will attack at will. Point is, Brooks is a bad coach, no doubt...but I do have a sense that he will get rid of trouble makers. He has proved over time, he has gotten rid of players who do not follow the rules of the law. I think Brooks is waiting to hear the full story instead of making judgment without facts.

UK football has been players leaving left and right, top recruits in state not even considering the program, and the latest installment. This is a sad comment on what once was a sound program. While few, if anyone, though Kentucky would ever make a serious run at the title game, 7-4/8-3 season were possible. Right now the Wildcat program is in a freefall and it appears the only end is firing Brooks.

I'm sure Butch Davis and Cutcliffe will give Lexington a serious look, but right now Kentucky football may be the biggest headache in the East because every stupid stunt is magnified by the lousy season. Vandy doesn't have the character problems showing up at UK. You can get quality character players in a Kentucky uniform, but it currently doesn't look like it from my POV.

UK has the nicest stadium in the league and it can get very loud. UK has an in-state fan base beyond Louisville's wildest dream. Hell, pull in the coach from Murray. Lock down the recruits in the western half of the state, put a fense around Paducah and it would a tougher team than the current set up. UK could easily hit goals Spurrier's set at South Carolina, and faster IMO, if Wildcat fans would quit accepting the current product with it's lame excuses.

Ahh, why is everyone ready to pull the trigger on a coach who has not had the opportunity to coach his own players. Did you forget we were coming off one of the worst probations in SEC football history? We sure took it up the backside compared to other schools violations. Character problems? Not as much as other schools…Rich weeded out the ones who did not want to be part of the program. Rich was not a sexy hire but he is a stable coach. Last thing UK needs is Cut to come in and make no difference than Brooks. One thing the Rich has brought us is stability. mcmiel, I challenge you to back up your comments…not locking down in state recruit?…check out rivals…in fact, let me help you
    http://kentucky.rivals.com/commitlist.asp?year=2006&school=35

We got some big time in-state recruits coming in and hell, went in Louisiana’s own back yard and snagged a running back from New Orleans who may be a steal under from LSU…do not be surprised if a WR from the same school is coming with him. If we can get Jones to commit (good chance considering both his brothers are on the team), we will have one of our best recruiting seasons in years…without cheating. Rich has a solid coaching staff. I am not saying we are going to be on the top of the SEC, but hopefully we will have a good product on the field. It will take time to get out of the mess that Mumme left us. I am not a big Brooks fan…but it just sense to keep on board instead of making the players go through another coaching philosophy and change. Give us time; we may make some noise in the future (i.e., LSU in Commonwealth Stadium 2007).

Dickie Lyons and the pops connection isn't a steal. Since you're high on Brooks, I hope you keep him. Saban didn't coach his recruits for a while, either.

UK will continue to lag further and further behind Louisville, Indiana, let alone the rest of the SEC with Rich Brooks. Keep him and the only surprise UK will have for LSU in 2007 is not blowing the game late, it'll be done by halftime.

UK is potentially a great job. Hire the right coach and the Ohio-Tennessee connection gets cut short about an hour south of Cincinnati. Rich Brooks isn't the guy.

No kids from Paducah, and it's a shallow list. It's too bad that this type of class is now getting folks fired up north. Claiborne's rolling in his grave at the mess up there. Can't blame Mumme forever, or can you.

If you read my post, I stated I am not a big Brooks’s supporter. Agree to disagree on your statement of bringing in a new coach. We are getting good recruits to verbal (3 stars)…yea, I know, it is not the caliber of LSU or USC, but it is a start. Ask yourself with the times UK had success with winning records, what followed? Could it be probation? Don’t get me wrong, I wanted Brooks head on a platter in the middle of the season last year and was thinking crazy wanting Zook…Why, Brook's got so hard headed with supporting the OC (Hudson), but realized he was going down the sinking ship. He made the switch before the UT game with Joker as the OC, and damn near beat the Vols on their home field. Don't be surprised if there is a better product on the feild with Joker's schemes.Just my opinion that making another change is not the answer.

Louisville, no doubt, is making strides, but do you honestly believe they would be this good playing in the SEC, Big Ten, or Big 12? Let’s just wait to see how the handle a mediocre Big East season before we make judgment…but no doubt, so far ahead of Kentucky right now...but honestly, so low in fan support, they will always be Little Brother!

Keep in mind, you said Ohio, Tennessee, and Kentucky recruiting…slim pickings. Talent in Kentucky is improving every year, but it still is a basketball and now a baseball state! Recruiting against the likes of Ohio State, Michigan, Tennessee, Louisville, and Purdue for the talent pool is a challenge at best.

There is no better option at the present time to come in and make noise. You mention Cut, do you think he is a heart attack away, come on; we are talking about UK football! How many games did we lose because we are so snake bitten? I swear the football stadium is over an Indian Burial ground (true story) and cursed by the Bear by not showing him some love over Rupp.

Not too many schools have an awesome basketball and football programs…either you place your eggs in either basket. Sure you will come back with Oklahoma, Texas, etc. Keep in mind; they are not consistent in winning traditions in both sports. A school would have to be a major state school (i.e., Texas) with a huge student population and alumni base. Kentucky is by far the school with support in Kentucky, but still small (30,000-Kentucky is small population base state)…at some point major in southern Ohio and Indiana…but not big enough like Texas (large population and ton of money).

The recruits that have verbal are nice pick ups. In-state talent, two are supposed to announce this week (one 4 star and another 3 star), who knows. Don’t get too cocky about LSU in Commonwealth…If I remember right, it took Davey’s drive in the last minute to pull off a win and another miracle. We won’t mention Dinardo’s debacle in Lexington either.

Any way, good discussion and great topic. See you in Nashville for the Vandy game. Got my tickets this week…looking forward to partying with the LSU faithful!
