1. I decesion like that should not be made by an emotionally disconnected person.
  2. debatable,.. often the father would choose the wife, often the mother would choose the child,.. in the past it was a choice left to God,.. now it's primarily a medical decision.
  3. It is a horrible thing. I only asked because a situation exactly like this happened to someone I know.
    Not that numbers should matter, but this happens in about 1% of all pregnancies.
    It's an interesting concept to ponder. If both parents were given the choice in a situation where the spouse and the child are drowning and only one can be saved, which would the other parent save? I suspect that in more cases than not, the mother would pick the child. But I could certainly be wrong.
