This should pretty much close the book on the Rove scandal the Dem's were hoping for.......... http://nationalreview.com/mccarthy/mccarthy200507180801.asp
i never said anything like that. grow up. shhh. you will be ok. relax. remember my wise words: "try to focus on points instead of petty distractions." - martin
stewart admits he voted kerry. and that is fine. and you can easily tell where he stands from his comedy, and that is fine too, although i would expect he claims he taunts both sides equally, he doesnt. and that is no big deal. my problem is how incredibly sanctimonious he is. he goes on crossfire and preaches to those guys like they are screwing up something sacred. like they havent upheld the precious nobility of a hack arguing show. and he shifts responsibility from the public for educating themselves to a couple jackasses on tv, as if they are somehow responsible for the level of debate, and they are not up to stewart's standards. what really would be stupid for america is to tell people that isnt their job to think, but some cnn show should be relied upon instead. people are responsible for making up their own minds, for seeking out information as they please. the job of the media is to say whatever they please, and let us sort it out. any and all voices are good for democracy, even if they are that goofy tucker carlson with his bowtie and his midget friend begala. because individuals bear the responsibilty of choosing what is worth watching/reading. thats not john stewart's decision. he isnt our dad, we can choose if crossfire is worth watching. another voice doesnt "hurt america" like he claims.
Sad part about this is that you have no inkling how ironic it sounds. Martin, you should read 'America.' It is absolutely hysterical. It's done in textbook style, with review questions, vocabulary, exercises, the whole 9. It's taking me entirely too long to read because of excessive laughing. But it's a humorous perspective on American history, with no political bias. Damn good read, IMO. Oh, and this is just for you:
i have a rule. any use in any context of words like "pwned" or "l33t" mean i can never talk to you again. sorry.
If it makes you feel better, I didn't make that picture. But if you want to use that as an excuse to not argue with me anymore, that's fine, too. I wouldn't blame you. I wouldn't like getting owned all the time, either. :hihi: Oh, and that's not the first time I posted that picture. I'd ask you why the sudden change of heart, but I guess I'll never get an answer.

Given the nature of Stewarts occupation, its safe to say that he will lambast whomever may be in power at the time. You know how 'regular' or 'real' news is constantly reporting stuff that the Bush admin does, or how they were constantly reporting stuff that the Clinton admin was doing (not just scandals, but everyday ongoings)? Well, that's exactly what the Daily Show does, they just make fun of what they happen to be reporting. Now, it may seem that they're a little harsh on this particular administration. And I think that can be attributed to two things: 1) Pundits like O'Reilly and Hannity didn't start taking jabs at the Daily Show and/or its viewership until the last few years. Thus, the negative attention did not focus on the show until these talking heads started making a fuss, which not-so-coincidentally, first took place during this admin. I don't recall them having such objections during the Clinton era. 2) This administration has given the Daily Show writers a veritable overload of material with which to work. Practically everytime Bush speaks (or tries to speak) in public, he is creating his own mockery, and a joke need not even be made. It is just flat out funny. Further, the incessant double-speak of this group often provides them with a plethora of instances that fit the bill of exactly the type of hypocrisy and ridicule that they like to point out. For instance, when you had Cheney saying that the Iraq insurgency was in its 'last throes', and then Rumsfeld turning right around and saying that it could last another 12 years. They had a field day with that one, and it was hilarious. Anyone who looks to this show, or any other media outlet, for influence or justification of their political stances is a very sad, weak-minded individual. It's sole purpose is to provide solace from the unbearably sickening realm of 'real' news. Anchors, correspondents, pundits, the sensationalism...I cannot stand any of it. It is an entertainment business that has come to thrive on little more than digging deep into peoples fears. In my opinion, the Daily Show is one gigantic 'F You' to all of it.
