Not really, but AB's style of power running is more suited to counter that type of defense than JV's, and as for as Saban's heart is concerned, as for as I can tell he seems to be in very excellent health, at least he seems to keep very fit.
10 Carries vs GA ... field is grass and may be soaking wet after a hurricane passage People are human, especially freshmen ... he got fat, dumb and happy in the offseason and lost a half step ... listening to all his hype, he probably didn't work that hard and kicked back ... he will sit on the bench and watch Broussard get the Tiger's share of carries ... then he'll be hungry and motivated soon enough ... Expect him to contribute against GA on about 10 carries in relief of Broussard and Addai
JV didn’t lose anything, AB lost weight, got stronger, more experienced, and faster than he was last year. In other words, he made a dramatic improvement. I can promise you no one worked harder than JV did during the off-season and in spring and fall practice, or Saban wouldn’t have repeatedly singled out JV for leadership if he "kicked back". JV and AB are our two best backs and I wouldn’t say anyone is better than the other because they both have very contrasting styles that, very fortunately for us, compliment each other’s very well. JV’s production will kick up just as soon as LSU’s quarterbacks and passing game force defenses to respect the pass, and, hell, 4.6 yards per carry isn’t too shabby by anyone’s standards and he is the best blocking back on the team.
Joseph Addai & Alley Broussard do not seem to suffer from the two quarterback system... I have no problem with JV...Just think that ever since OSU, he looked like he was dancing too much when he should have hit the hole...Justin has improved against Auburn & MSU...But, Broussard and Addai are playing over his level... If they can thrive with both of them in there...Then play those two...
Hester better than Vincent and just as good as Carey? You silly little fool. :dis: :dis: :dis: There goes that post out the window. Hester hasn't seen any action against OSU or AU and yet you deem him just as good or better than Carey and Vincent.
Based on performance this year: Broussard Tie: Addai/Vincent Hester Carey Based on pure Talent: Vincent Broussard Addai Carey Hester
JV has a bullseye on his chest after his SEC Champ and Sugar Bowl games last year. The lack of a passing attack so far this year and the O-Line's subpar play doesn't help. I think that Alley's running-style might make the subpar O-Line play less of an issue, but either way, I hope this has the same effect on JV that Kev Faulk had when Cecil played while he was injured. After that game, we all saw a different Kevin.
Damn right! My ranking exactly. Vincent is in a little bit of a slump, but the man has paid his dues and is LSU's only proven 1,000-yard rusher. He has two championship MVP's. He hasn't broken any really big ones, yet, but LSU isn't really hitting on all cylinders on offense, yet. The QB's are coming around, the OL is coming around, and so will JV. Vincent will play a lot of ball for LSU this year. So will Broussard, Addai, Hester, and Carey Nick could have worse problems than four or five guys who can play.
Looks to me JV is trying to turn everything into an 80 yard td run. Too much hesitation and not enough hitting the hole. Just my observation. I'd pound Broussard for 2 1/2 quarters and then use Vincent once the defense gets tired and loses a step.
