Hilarious. 13 of 14 happened before the end of WW2 and more than half weren't even in the 20th century.

As was already pointed out, the process began prior to Reagan's last year. It took the Democrats 4 months to fuck Bork over and with Teddy in charge, they were focused on making sure Reagan didn't get one in. Don't play dumb.

The longest vacancy based on the beginning and end dates for each justice’s term listed on the Supreme Court’s website, is 391 days.....Harry Blackmun, a NIXON appointee.

Riiiiiight.....are you familiar with the Thurmond Rule? In the last year of Dubya's term, Feinstein suggested that presidential nominees that are not confirmed by June of that year would not be confirmed at all, while Democratic Senator Patrick Leahy stated the rule as meaning "judicial nominations do not advance in the Senate in the latter part of a presidential election year without the support of Senate leaders and top lawmakers on the Judiciary. They are both DEMS!

This is an issue of political convenience. Stop trying to pretend that libs/DEMS have the upper hand in doing what's right.

Funny, I'm sure you'd feel the same if a republican was currently in office. They cant reasonably delay this for a year.

I made my opinion clear earlier. The SCOTUS should strike a balance. I am appalled at Sen Reid for chiming in before the body even got cold to suggest they would force someone through.
    Yes, they can.

    And I'd suspect they will.

    As they should.

At this point, I'm all about the strategy and game-playing. Voters need and deserve a chance to consider this issue as they go to the polls.

Doing the same what? None of them are screaming for a replacement before he is even burried. This is all about the shitty stupid dems wanting to swing the court because they know they are about to lose the WH. Just another reason to despise the slimy little shits.

Damn right they do. But the thing about these backwards ass liberal ass hats is the country was founded on a set of values, principals and courage. These things are in conflict with everything a liberal holds dear and they will spend their last breath trying to change it while the those on the "right" side will do the same to defend it. We will not lose.
