Been through this before, too. ULL (U of La at Lafayette) are the Cajuns. Ragin' Cajuns to be exact, and their mascot is a crawfish. LSU is the Tigers. There are no other mascots, emblems, or war cries at LSU. The mascot is simply Mike V, a live bengal tiger. In its hayday (pun intended for your barners) LSU was known as the Old War Skule (school), for its contributions to the military.
Here's why Auburn's identity complex is stupid. All the other schools that were mentioned with 2 mascots (w/ the exception of Georgia Tech, which is also stupid) have one mascot that doesn't really lend itself very well to something that can be personified. Like the "crimson tide" or an "aggie." But Auburn has a Tiger, an animal that is easily representable, and, of course, they actually do have a Tiger mascot, Aubie. But then, on top of that, they go and have a "battle cry" - not another mascot mind you, but a battle cry - which also happens to contain another easily representable, animal - an eagle. And of course you end up with all kinds of pictures of eagles, an actual eagle at the games (until it got sick, which really was unfortunate, b/c it was cool), etc. But, all the while the "war eagle" IS NOT ANOTHER MASCOT damn it! Its just a battle cry! And Auburn fans can't understand why other people are confused, or at least like to give them a hard time about it. The crown jewel in Auburn's multiple personality disorder, though has to be that they went and named the eagle, what else, but "Tiger." Right, got it, makes perfect sense.
Well, except that Army (Black Knights/Cadets) and Navy (Midshipmen) are both things that are easily personified. But don't let that slow down the head of steam you've built up. You need a better sense of humor. Besides, I don't care if you want to give us a hard time, as long as you do it armed with some facts. It really doesn't bother me one way or the other. I love Auburn. I love our traditions. I love our battle cry and mascots.
Until LSU people learn to spell the word go there is no sense arguing with them. They seem to be jealous that they do not have war cry.
Suck my gym sock, Nuttsac. Your team will always be second best in the State of Alabama. The Univ of Alabama will ALWAYS be above you. That said, Bauburn sodomite, let me say this: WHEN YOU WIN THE SEC AND A BCS BOWL GAME IN THE SAME YEAR, THEN COME BACK HERE AND TALK SMACK. UNTIL THEN, FRICK OFF. :geaux: :lsug:
Quoted by ProudTiger, Looking at this thread I wonder if this week's event is about mascots or football Why are you reading this thread??? Its about mascots not football. You must not be to smart to wonder about that when the thread talks about mascots.
You have a live eagle...not a live Tiger...If the Tiger is your mascot, then what's the eagle for? I guess it's an Alabama thing...What does a Crimson Tide have to do with an elephant?
FYI, Tennessee DOES have a person dressed as Davy Crockett on the sidelines at the games...or at least they used to.
