They started on the 9 yard line with under 2 minutes to go. This is not the optimal scenario to mount a scoring drive, especially the way we were passing the ball at that point in the game. All coaches know this... all coaches run some safe plays and IF one gains some yardage then they start calling riskier plays. You go 3 passes and out and the other team get the ball at midfield with 1:30 left.
Thanks. My problem lies mostly with our offense. If we'd not been a position where that PAT mattered, no one would care about the call. However.....something tells me that the refs wouldn't have made that call if it hadn't been so instrumental. Seems to me that kind of personal foul happens all the time and doesn't get called (which is why not many people had heard of it prior to yesterday), in my opinion. I suppose this is the price of playing an away game. You have to deal with an occasional call that is at best questionable.
exactly right. they run a couple plays to see if they can establish field position where a turnover won't cost you the lead going into a half. thats what we did yet didn't continue for some reason.
