Walk on kickers can get the job done. Mario was a walk on for SC in 2003 and earned a schollie in 2005. In his career he was 26 for 28 in field goals and 127 of 134 in extra points. He set an NCAA, Pac10, and USC record with 83 extra points out of 86 attempts. He also set the NCAA record for PAT's and attempts going 9 for 9 versus utla in 2005. That year he ranked 17th nationally in scoring. Of course none of it compares with the leadership he provided.

Taking 2 kickers is very prudent.

So true, we take pat's and chip shot field goals for granted......look at the Auburn game two years ago- Vaughn could have put it away.

That's the example I was thinking of when I said we have struggled at kicker for a few years.:thumb:

Full ride scholarships are worth over $12,000 a year. Walk-ons get zippo.

I am predicting that Andrew Crutchfield will be the punter and PAT kicker at LSU. His longest field goal is 40 yards. I think he will also do Kickoffs, he has 33 touchbacks during the '06 season.

Jasper will likely have the FG duties, he kicks a little farther and has bettter accuracy than AC.
