Just how reliable are some of these recruiting "gurus"?

agree. seems many are just pete and repeat with info without really getting a feel for the talent or their sincerity (where often the recruits aren't even sure).

I used to like Bill King (i think thats his name) out of Tennessee. He seemed very credible and reliable and had a good feel for an overall talent-base throughout the country.

I'm not offended by what you post, nor is it my intention to offend you. As I said, I have no idea what went down wrt the deleted post. I was just trying to give you some feedback based on observations. Also, I'm not trying shut off discussion on the topic; I was just offering my perspective on the subject.

I don't know what your expectations are and whether or not they are being met. That's for you to decide. I'm no longer a Tigerbait subscriber, but that's because of a disagreement over something that's important to me, but not to most others. I actually like Rivals, and I think they do a good job when you consider the enormity of the task. It never really bothered me if they weren't right on something. The bottom line is that it doesn't really effect who LSU recruits or not.

I would only point out that at this point you really don't know what Rival's thinks of La OL talent. Apparently Mike doesn't think it's all that good, but all you really know about Rivals is that they don't think they are worthy enough to be listed on the preliminary top 100. The first rankings will not be done until May-Jun and they will be revised another 2 or 3 times before signing day. As you know Mike has input but Rivals (Crabtree and Co) has the final say on what's in the database wrt ratings. Mike is under no obligation to agree with them or vice versa.

Until LSU offers one of these 'big time recruits' you've discovered, I think the people telling you there are few to none in state are looking pretty accurate...

I believe as time goes on these guys are very accurate not on who ends up being a great player but who the colleges think are going to be great players. When the rankings come out on both of the major services at the end of the spring you will see that most of the guys they think are 4 and 5 star players will be offered my many top programs. The guys they rate as 2 and 3 stars will get get offers from the mid tier programs and some top programs. Every now and then one goes up and another falls down. I bet the colleges get just as many wrong as the services do.

To add one more point. I don't really belong to the service to get a lot of recruiting scoop, as many have said we find out almost as much on this and other sites within minutes or hours of the scoop being posted on this board. I belong because I enjoy reading about the players from around the country and the LA players in particular. They interview these players often. I also like to watch the video's of the great skill players, they are awesome.
