I can definitely see Mauck getting passed by one of the heralded freshman. Coach Saban will have the best players on the field. Nobody gets on the field based based on reputation or coaches favorites. Remember Blue Gay? He was one of Saban's favorites and got replaced by a freshman because the freshman was the best player we could put on the field.

It is possible that we haven't been going downfield this year because Mauck doesn't have the arm strenght. Both of the freshman have stronger arms but just don't have the knowledge of the system yet. After a year of practice they might be better than Mauck. You never know.
