And, would Bama Boy have done any better if he had to face LSU's defense? Bama Boy was surronded by more talent on both sides of the field.

He faced LSU's D at every practice. Why do you think he was picked 1st overall in the 2007 pro-style football draft?

It's not the playbook that's the differentiator, or even the checkdowns. It's the speed of the pro game, and the diminished margin of error in the pro game. Also, most quarterbacks have to gain some strength to play at the next level, which takes time.

Of course the Weis factor is highly overrated. The Patriots had a fine running game when he was there, yet Darius Walker has already been cut. It just doesn't mean all that much.

I fail to see what that proves. Ken Dorsey also faced Miami's D at every practice, Craig Krenzel faced OSU's D at every practice, etc... That doesn't mean they were #1 picks because of that.

I know this is an unpopular opinion on this forum, but I think Bama Boy got drafted first because of the way he scorched the ND defenese. Before that, Bama Boy hadn't been touted as the number one draft pick. But, I don't see why Bama Boy playing the game of his life against ND should suddenly leapfrog him as the top pick. It would have been impressive if ND's defense had been dominating all season, and Bama Boy did what he did against such a defense. But, all season long, other teams had been having their way with ND's defense. If you switched it around, where BQ was playing against ND's defense, BQ would have also had some gaudy numbers in that game as well.

Umm you don't get to play the service academies EVERY week. Sometimes you have to step outta the High School ranks and play the big boys.
