"Michael Clayton of LSU ran and worked out and was very impressive in both" http://www.nfl.com/draft/story/7110336
The last two posts show how unreliable these NFL Draft talks are. I'm just pissed that I have to steer clear of ESPN for two days in April so that I don't have to deal with "Boomer" Berman.
I have seen both tpes of reports, but the one that bothered me the most on M Clayton was from Skip Bayless last night on "Copic on Sports". He reported that Michael ran a 4.7 40. Don't know if that is true or not, but it was reported on the radio here in BR last night.
Yeah, I read that Clyaton ran as low as a 4.75, which brings up the question, what the hell has he been doing since the Sugar Bowl? This really hurts his stock, and since he is only 6'2.5, and not 6'4, I bet he'll be a late first round pick.
I don't think we can trust any of these reports. These guys al judge talent differently and look for different things in the players. And remember what DD and Bolden did in the NFL last yearafter poor times in the 40. Some guys have track speed and some have football speed, hopefully Michael's talent will shine through. for the guy that asks what has Clayton been doing, I would be willing to bet that he has worked as hard as any prospect in the country over the past few months, you can never question his work ethic, ever.
These teams research everything on potential draft picks and that can only help Clayton. He's a high character guy who has all the intangibles to succeed as an NFL WR. If he falls to the 2nd round, so be it. He's one of those special Tiger greats that will make me an instant fan of whoever drafts him....unless it's the Cowboys.
I'm not questioning work ethic, I'm questioning why he wasn't working on a good 40 time when he knows that if he runs a poor one he falls to late first-early second. I have no doubt that Clayton will be a pro bowl NFL receiver. But, unless he runs a 4.5 at LSU's pro day (which he could do, school tracks are always faster), he really hurt his draft stock by not preparing for a good 40 time in Indy.
