From the Penthouse to the outhouse: Updated: June 7, 2006, 3:41 PM ET BATON ROUGE, La. -- LSU basketball coach John Brady, who led the Tigers to the Final Four this year, said he expects to sign a new contract within the next couple of weeks. Brady said he is excited about the details and expressed faith with athletic director Skip Bertman and LSU Chancellor Sean O'Keefe. "I believe in what Skip Bertman tells me," Brady said. "I will certainly believe in what Chancellor O'Keefe tells me, and there are things on the table right now that are very positive, and something should be done in the next two weeks or so." During a public appearance Tuesday, Brady said he empathized with LSU baseball coach Smoke Laval, who was fired Sunday, but said the basketball program and baseball program came from different situations. "I didn't take over one of the top four or five basketball programs in the country," he said. "It was a whole different set of circumstances, a whole different set of standards." ... He acknowledged LSU raised the bar for itself last season. "I hope going to the Final Four every year, next year, is not a stamp on whether you're good or bad," Brady said. I'm sure the players have tuned Brady out and are not playing hard for him. Doubt he already has somebody given that we're still in the middle of the season.
I can see a few short win streaks over the next month. We're not very deep but I believe the guys will play hard for Butch.
