I thought Rome's schtick was great for a couple of years in the late nineties. But, it got stale and I can't take it any more. Besides, he's such a salad tosser in his interviews that it makes it unbearable to listen to any interviews. "Good job coming in (insert pet nickname involving first initial), you really brought it today." Blah And there's too much internal self-referencing going on, instead of decent sports talk.
I actually like Jim Rome. I do agree though that he talks "smack" about people all day then if the gets an interview with them he's nothing but a kiss ass. I do like to listen to his show though. But, Id rather listen to Colin Cowherd. I think his show mixes sports and entertainment well. He's a pretty funny guy. Atleast these guys dont have yahoos that call there shows every day as 5 different people and call people homo on the air. Or dont have people call in and rip them everyday...lol but then again, they can control that. The national guys and some local guys just dont like people who come on and disagree with them.
There is this guy who calls my show and changes his name everyday. He either insults me or uses the radio as a forum for knocking someone else.
I agree to a certain extent. Add to that he's a hypocrite, but the best part of his show are the callers and especially the emailers. That's really the only reason I listen. For the most part, they're predictable, but there's at least 2 or 3 a day that really make me laugh. Cowherd is ok, but I tend to disagree with alot of things he says.
Whoa! I didn't realize that you co-hosted TSR in the mornings. I don't know where the hell I've been. I usually listen whenever I get out of class on Tuesdays and Thursdays... other days I don't get to a radio until Buddy Songy is on. I've heard that guy the last two days, though. How long has this been going on? I didn't catch what he said today... but I know he called.
I'll leave this thread open for you guys to continue chatting, but for the record Brady never called in. Rome, jokingly, said that it didn't "bode well" for LSU's chances (veiled "bad Jungle karma" reference). Rome has his deal, and on occasion it's funny. I imagine trying to do his type of show for 3 hrs a day is not easy, hence his tendency to draw out what should be a 5 minute take into one that runs for, like, 45 minutes through four commercial breaks.
I was going to ask whatever became of it. I wonder why he never called. I was hoping to see him suck up and talk about how great LSU is. Damn.
Today he just said I talk to much and all this stuff. He dislikes me. Yesterday he called and made a personal attack on someone an called them a homo. He's a sad soul. But, he listens. I hate that he calls in every day as someone new and just ridicules me. Well, i dont mind so much b/c i know that what I do puts me at risk of that, but still, the guy must have no life.
