At this point JJ psyche seems shakey at best. I have no doubt he is trying his best; but maybe a bit too hard. Instead of trying to continue sticking it out, he should step back, and regroup his mind. His mindset seems fragile at this point, and any boos from the crowd he would take them at heart and personally, and therefore makes him worse. He needs a sports psychologist....Is Red 55 available? Miles is saying he is sticking with him ,I think, at least partly trying not to make his confidence worse. It may be prudent to take him out for now; as TigerCliff said "He needs to be the #2 guy and get the pressure off of him. He needs to be the back-up so he doesn't have to think about starting QB problem all the time."
If he plays lights out, maybe everyone in TigerLand should come out and still say they want Jarrett Lee, if that is what it takes to get this dude to play better, so be it.
I really believe that Lee is MUCH improved from the pick 6 days!! He completely out played Jefferson in the spring game too.... If he gets the chance, I really believe that he is gonna completely surprise everyone and show why he should be the starter!! There is NO reason for Miles to not give Lee at least 2 or 3 CONSECUTIVE series in the Miss. State game, consecutive being the key word!! I really believe Lee is a totally different QB and I believe he has alot of talent that most tiger fans don't realize that he has!! I can't wait to see!! GEAUX TIGERS!!!!
I won't disagree with this point at all. My only concern would be that our option is JL, not to say he doesn't deserve a shot, but what we haven't seen is whether or not he has mentally recovered from the damage of his starting season and the effects of the crowds booing him. His confidence became a shell of itself and I'm not sure he has truly recovered. Many, at the time, pointed out that he looked like a deer caught in headlights. Something that, in his mop up duty, hasn't shown itself, but then again he hasn't had much of a chance either. I want nothing more than for both of these young men to be successful here at LSU and into the future. I will say this about both of them, they both have a tremendous amount of courage. JJ knows he's under the gun, takes ownership of his faults, and vows to improve; JL knows his faults and knows why he isn't the starter yet has shown determination to be a part of this team. Both are to be commended for their desire to be the best and regain the fan and coaching confidence back.
If i were Jarett Lee, i would have transferred. He didn't, so, just that right there tells me he is either lazy and complacent, or chomping at the bit to get in and prove to fans here that they were wrong about him. I hope it's option number 2.
