A needless government complication that amounts to the worst of both worlds. The poor will con tinue to not pay much tax, the rich will escape vast amounts of income taxes, which will now be paid as sales taxes by the middle class who must spend most of its income rather than investing it.

Once that the high-income rich are no linger impacted by government spending, Jindal will stop slashing the budget and restore the lost hospital and university budgets to placate the public. And sales taxes will increase until "revenue neutrality" exists.

Anybody who buys into this plan needs to think it through. You can't get something for nothing. The Easter Bunny isn't real.

Everyone should pay the same % of tax......unless there is a lower income threshold where you pay no tax.

A flat tax will only work if all of the tax loopholes, tax credits, tax subsidies, itemized deductions, and other tax avoidances are eliminated.

Yes we can't have the hard working entrepreneurial risk taking Americans with balls getting any kind of advantage, gotta make sure they are as financially dumb as the poor.....

Sorry, but I've got to agree with Red. Its the loopholes, itemized deductions, etc, that create situations where Warren Buffet's secretary pays more than Warren Buffet. Having everyone pay the same percentage is the dictionary definition of "fair", but you can't turn around and give some people a way to beat "fair."

Not paying any tax below a certain amount of income isn't "fair" either, but necessary I think

And suddenly she abandons her flat tax plan to make a insipid remark that is meaningless.

you realize Buffet lied when he told that tale right? He compared his effective rate to her top marginal rate, and he exaggerated that.
