The fact that Fisher would consider this job shows how badly he wants to move onto something else. No one in their right mind would promise him the FSU HC job when Bowden retires. He may be a candidate for the job, but no promises. I'm glad he didn't get the UAB job b/c I don't think anyone can win there. He would have failed and possibly end his HC career before it got started. Bama controls the purse strings and they aren't going to allow that school to ever be successful. Hope he finds something he wants ... soon. We need to have a new OC before signing day.
I'll be. I never new that....see, I tried telling my boss that this forum wasn't a waste of time. I actually learn stuff in here!:hihi:
And that's not to be confused the median, which is the middle number in a sequence of numbers ordered from low to high.
Well that's my whole point, if Fisher has confidence in himself (which I hope to hell he does), then he should have no reservation in taking the job. It's all set up for him to be the hero. He just has to get the job done.
Maybe Jimbo sees how good a coach Miles is and realizes he's going to be the head man here for a long, long time.:thumb:
Something a friend of mine sent me today....keep in mind he is an FSU guy and Im not sure the source. Anyway, just an FYI. _____________________________________________________________ There was a meeting with FSU's Executive Board this morning and athletic director Dave Hart was part of it. The board discussed three separate contracts, one of which was the offensive coordinator. Basic approval was given for all three. Regarding the new offensive coordinator deal the comment I got back is that they "will pay what the market will bear" to get it done. These contracts are all guaranteed contracts, meaning they probably are more than just one-year deals. The board will have to meet one more time later for final approval when they have the specific terms worked out. As far as the other two contacts, I don't have the specifics on who they are for but a couple people I talked to felt they were probably for Mickey Andrews and Kevin Steele. Keep in mind that if FSU hires Jimbo Fisher, it will be for a substantial increase over the prior OC's salary and both Andrews (defensive coordinator) and Steele (executive head coach) will need raises to keep pace. I know some people were hoping there would be a public announcement on the new offensive coordinator this week. But I'm hearing that won't happen. That doesn't mean that things aren't getting done but there are other considerations in play that will delay this from going public a little longer -- If FSU wants to announce all the changes at once they can't do that before the bowl game since several assistants that could be leaving are still on staff. I think FSU is prepared to make the announcement after its 12/27 bowl game but I'm hearing from Jimbo Fisher's camp that it probably won't get done until after LSU's 1/3 bowl game. This doesn't mean the two sides won't have a hand-shake agreement on all the terms before then, and that could happen this week, but the deal won't be "official" for at least a week or two. Either way, it should become public in plenty of time before the recruiting dead period that ends on 1/12. The good news is that it looks like one of the final internal hurdles has been cleared to get the deal done with Jimbo Fisher -- money shouldn't be a major issue. Now it's just a matter of being patient. On the "other" assistant coaches, I've heard again that Fisher will be given the ability to bring in his own staff on offense. Along those lines, things continue to look very good for former FSU WR and current USF assistant coach Lawrence Dawsey to return to Tallahassee and take over as the new WR coach. The other assistant that's been mentioned frequently is WVA assistant head coach and OL coach Rick Trickett. From what I'm hearing he may be getting a raise at WVA. That could make it harder for Fisher/FSU to get him to join the staff. We will have to see how that one plays out.
How interesting, the exact same names that I am hearing from an entirely different direction. I am, however, hearing it will break sooner rather than later. My folk also said Alex Wood from Arky would be a good move to LSU as a QB coach. Nothing in the works there, just would be a good move.
I am assuming that if FSU getting Fisher is truly in the works that Miles is deep in his process of getting Fisher's replacement, as some big name recruits on the offensive side of the ball are still hanging in the balance and we need to be ready to pull the trigger on a replacement sooner than later (even moreso important if Fisher's move is after the Sugar Bowl).
