Regardless of who made the decision, the attempt to begin dominating with the rush and controlling the clock is not necessarily a bad one. Only in hindsight is it being questioned. The challenge was in re-firing the passing attack after it had been "powered down." Not to be critical, but my honest assessment is that Miles should've committed to the run even sooner...... it was working, and it was breaking the spirit of the UT defense. Only when the interception changed the momentum did the strategy begin to backfire. BTW, your punter had one helluva game, as did the entire LSU special teams. UT's kicker saved their bacon in the 2nd half by putting the kickoffs through the endzone, JMHO. :thumb:
Our special teams are good and its about the only thing we have going for us. Did you see the ASU game? Without the special teams we would be 0-2, we blocked a punt and a FG for a td I believe. That seems like ages ago!
Wolf, you say this is only 1 game and that it is too early to harp on the decision making? How many people said it was only 1 game after the ASU game when we were mad at the defense scheme by BO? Will we say this is only his 1st season? Will fans carry it out that long? Noway. I believe Bo is not the right guy and after seeing Miles sit on this lead on offense, I'm beginning to wonder. Lets see how he can handle the pressure. When you look at LSU and see how much talent is there a good coach and staff should be able to do very nicely, but I haven't seen it yet from this staff. Then you see a Florida team that doesn't have the talent level or recruiting that LSU has had and with the addition of a coach they are now a title contender. I am now falling for the Urban Myth. A coach and the staff he puts together matters a great deal. Yes under Saban, the offense got really conservative and left it up to the defense to hold the game for us in 2004 and 2003, but Pelini doesn't have the defensive intellect that Saban did and he doesn't push these guys like Saban. Therefore, Miles needs to learn that you can't squat on a lead anymore. You better attack, attack, and attack. Knock the morale out of the opponent. Don't give them rays of hope. That 1st TD by Tenn in the 3rd qtr gave that team hope. It was all due to them walking the field on our soft zone D that Bo decided to switch too. The D had been decent up until that stretch of play calling. I was scared after that TD and had a bad feeling about the game. So don't tell us that it is "only 1 game" because that one game has probably cost us a chance at the Rose Bowl and the rest of the season will probably be delt a couple more losses if this type of coaching continues. Then we run into recruiting problems for the next couple of years. So we have the most talented team LSU has ever had and now due to a change in coaching staff we will not be NC contenders without help. Then that affects the whole program for years to come. It all starts out as "only 1 game".
