I could see Jimbo leaving if a suitable opportunity presented itself. I base that on Miles being a coach who in the past was heavily involved in the offense, and Jimbo probably isn't excited about sharing his "turf". That said, I do not see how Jimbo would consider arkansas a suitable opportunity. Nutt's stability in his current position is tenuous, and more importantly, Nutt has been his own offensive coordinator. Why would Jimbo go from one situation where he battles for control of his offense, to another situation where the same problem would exist. Jimbo goes for an HC position or for an OC position at a school where a defensive minded HC is employed. Otherwise he waits, his stature will only improve at LSU, no matter his conflict (If Any) with Miles.

Why not Arkansas? Their money is as green as everyone else's? I know absolutely nothing about whether or not there is friction between Jimbo and Leslie. But if there is, don't you think it would be miserable going to work when you really do not like your boss? Arkansas was playing a true freshman at qb by seasons end. Their running back (one of the best in the sec)(and they were leading the sec in rushing) was a freshman. At one time, they had (reportedly) SEVENTEEN "freshmen" starting. Their potential looks good.....If Jimbo were to lead them to "greatness", how much would his "stock" be worth then? Sure, if a head coaching job comes along first, go for it. (unless it is at some graveyard like OM) Miles does not want to lose Jimbo!!!! He may think differently but no no. Ask Jerry Stovall how important a good oc is. Jerry was NATIONAL COACH OF THE YEAR, lost his oc, had a bad year the next year, and was FIRED at the end of that year.

There was friction between Jimbo and Nick, too, but it didn't make Jimbo walk. There is always a certain amount of friction between a head coach and ambitious coodinators. It goes with the job. Jimbo proved that he has a hard shell under Nick and he is the highest-paid assistant coach in the SEC making more money than almost NCAA head coaches do with practically none of the pressure.

Jimbo is not only waiting for a head coach job, he is waiting for the right one. He already turned down Miss State and Delaware. I doubt if he wants to go install a new defense at a team that is not a contender. He betters his own head coach chances to stay right here and keep winning.

He might be interested in Nutt's job, if it were available. But Jimbo is patient, and the job he really wants . . . is head coach at LSU.

Man red. I agree with a lot of what you said. Jimbo and Les do not like each other because Les is more in Jimbo's playbook than Nick ever was.

I cant see Jimbo leaving for another OC position. He will go HC at a mid-major or better, all depending on his package. I am afraid that Jimbo will not see the LSU HC position for a long time. Should Les return to Michigan, you can bet bottom dollar that Butch Davis will have right of first refusal.

I may get red for this but so be it, it's an interesting conclusion. I think that the problem with our offense may be that Jimbo is A LOT more patient than Miles is. It's not anyone's fault, I just think that Miles is the kind of guy that gets excited and wants to unleash the offense when it's clearly better to stay patient and stick to the gameplan, like Jimbo does. I think that could be the reasoning for a mix of conservative play and a mix of sometimes goofy calls (best example, fake on the punt for first down earlier in the season.) Jimbo knows when to call what, for the most part, and Miles is still learning what the SEC is supposed to be like. I think that even if Jimbo leaves for another job soon, his time with Miles is very very important to Miles' success at LSU. I think CLM just needs to become a little more patient in situations, but he still needs to know when to unleash it. I think that the injury to Alley and the dropped passes by our receivers are the reasoning for most of our offensive woes, not the coaches, mainly because those were two constants that we were counting on. Somewhere down the line I would like to see LSU get some receivers who can block a la Mike Clayon as well!

I have it on VERY good authority that Jimbo will be headed to Arkansas late next season. I can't divulge my source, but it's air-tight.

It was a silent audible by Chris Jackson, not a call for a fake from the sidelines.

My sources on the inside are telling me that Coach Miles, LaRon Landry, and Jordy H will be going to Arkansas late next season as well. Interesting.

Yea, I really think there's something to it. Oddly enough, Brazell and Williams are NOT rumored to be going there. I hate it when the rumor mills get going, but I think these are pretty solid.
