Jim Hawthorne Retiring after 2015-2016 Basketball Season

I often mute the TV and listen to the radio. Then I'll often rewatch the game and listen to the TV guys. Depends on how well I can sync up the radio/TV though.. the delay can force me to just go TV.

 

We're talking the '60s & '70s when the only televised games were on Saturday afternoon.

 

Ohhh, thought you meant Hawthorne. Gotcha.

 

Hell, he'd admit it a few seconds later when he corrected himself. Or when he would say Tigers gained 6 yards on first down and now face a second and 6........

I grew up listening to Ferguson and loved his voice but the man wasn't very good on many occasions. However not nearly as bad as Hawthorne. I so wish Jim Henderson would have been hired when Ferguson retired.

 

This will come as no great surprise, but it's obvious that your memory is a hell of a lot better than mine.

 

Handoff to Charlie Alexander. He breaks one tackle and drags 3 defenders with him before the finally bring him down at the 34 yard line and its going to be second down and about 9 yards to go

 

Was Jim Henderson applying for the job? Did he want it?

 

Not sure, I just remember his name being thrown around as a possible replacement.

 

I listened to a couple of innings of LSU softball last week. I don't know the play by play guy's name but he is pretty good. Listemg to Hannagrif right now and there is a lot of dead air when Hawthorne takes a break.

 

Hawthorne s greatest hits- 'Ali Landry up the middle gain of three'. 'The pass was tipped and caught unbelievable catch, oh wait, it's incomplete' and who can forget 'JACK HUNT!'
