I realize it's been a while since I've asked you (and I don't think you ever responded last time, either) but will you marry me?
I have never heard of anyone getting jail time over a simple battery charge even if they violated probation. It is almost always community service and what not. Hell, they don’t even take you to prison the night of, they just give you a ticket to appear in court.
Listen I know I may be in the minority here but I feel like suffering some consequences (private AND public) is healthy for helping someone make wiser choices in the future AND helps them stop embarrassing themselves, their families, and potentially hurting their future opportunities. So Miles suspending Hill for a few games is perfectly reasonable in my opinion. Has anyone seen the ESPN 30 for 30 special called "Bankrupt?" If not you should. It profiles incredibly talented individuals who basically squandered it and are miserable today. There are literally HUNDREDS of big time professional athletes who never put it together that character flaws will haunt you for life no matter how talented you are. ALSO: I am an LSU Grad of 25 years who will ALWAYS cheer loud and proud for the Tigers and that will never change. And FYI I am on this forum posting my thoughts and ideas because it is a FORUM and that's the place to do it. "à chacun sa propre" ("to each his own") GEAUX TIGERS!
@Bud Lee makes the triumphant return. Good to see you dude. @FirstCoastTiger I agree that Hill must suffer some consequences, just not consequences as severe as some seem to believe. What I think some can't wrap their heads around is the difference between misdemeanors and felonies. Misdemeanors are, by definition, lesser crimes. It's just a policy decision made by the Legislature. And, yeah, if CLM decides to suspend Hill for any number of games it would be reasonable. He's just been let back to practice, nobody has said yet he's going to play. I did see that 30 for 30 and it was heartbreaking.
I don't know about triumphant return...mediocre post with some blaring typos that have since been corrected. Nevertheless, nice to be back
I don't know, yet, whether or not Miles will sit Hill for a while. I would think it's a good possibility, but I am sure that he won't announce it. He keeps those sorts of things close to the vest, to mess with opponents. But he has been punished; he was indefinitely suspended and not allowed to be a part of the team for the last few months. Miles said he was out of shape. Punishment enough? I trust Miles to decide that.
First of all, what he did with the girl isn't up for debate. It was before LSU and imo shouldn't have been a big deal. Secondly, Jeremy Hill was not a 5* recruit, he was a 4* and somewhere around the 20th rated RB in the country. So, non LSU/SEC fans probably have no clue who he is. Hell, I have friends who are huge Georgia/Bama fans, and I bet they couldn't tell Jeremy Hill from Trindon Holliday. Hill got in a "fight" as a 20 year old at a bar. Most of us have been there, and made poor decisions, that we then grow/learn from. That said, I have no problem with a suspension.
1. I don't recall people saying that he should go to jail, just that he deserves the game suspensions that I suspect Les will impose. Being suspended for summer vacation amounts to nothing. 2. If it was your 14 year old daughter would it be just a blow job or would it be sexual assault?
1. Some, not all, have suggested that his probation would be revoked by the court (lots of that on TOS.) Summer amounts to nothing, but I think he'll be riding the pine a good bit the first few weeks. 2. If it was my 14-year-old daughter, I'd be talking to her about having just a small amount of self-respect. I still think the girl in question's dad was beyond mortified that his daughter did that (I would be, too). I teach kids around this age, and there are many girls with little to no self-respect. I realize it's criminal, but 30 years ago, there were lots of seniors who went out with freshmen at my school. And some of those were sexually active.
I understand. Seniors went out with freshmen 40 years ago, too . . . And 100 years ago. But we knew the rules, just like Hill did. The term "jailbait" has been around for a long, long time. The law protected you and will protect your daughter. There have always been and must always be consequences for irresponsibility. Look, I don't want the book thrown at Hill either but all this clamor trying to totally excuse his behavior is a lot of selfish homer bullshit. We would be outraged at a Bama or Florida player doing he same. LSU is more important to me than Hill. Les has always been straight up in punishing players for misbehavior. He needs to keep doing just that. Save the man's career, but sit his ass on the pine for a few games. He needs it, his teammates need to see it, and LSU needs to keep its standards high.
