I'm beginning to wonder if The Hatter didn't orchestrate the timing of this entire ordeal just to sidestep the spotlight for a sec. Wouldn't put it past that diabolical emmeffer.
But at this point, who really cares? He has now dismissed his marquee player TWICE, most likely costing himself at least one (possibly two) championships. The second guy never even had a run-in with the law prior to dismissal. If people want to overlook that, then to hell with 'em. Miles has proven on more than one ocassion that he's not one to let the lure of success override his standards & character. I'd say he's earned my trust.
But he was on probation from that previous sexual assault while he was on the team at LSU. He had every responsibility to Les and the team to respect that probation and keep his nose clean. Les has every right to consider Hill's scorn for his probation when disciplining him. His next trouble is going to be strike three.
My whole point is that many people commenting on this thread appear to be on their high horse, considering they think all is good and just even though their "hero" has now been arrested for sex with an underage girl and blindsiding a guy who was in no shape to defend himself (the guy probably would have stood no chance against a 230 lb 5* OBSCURE football player in the first place). Manziel signed authgraphs for money. Lets throw Manziel out of college football...he's a terrible human being! He broke NCAA rules...now, that's different and much worse than breaking the rules of civilized society! Don't get me wrong, I love LSU football and what Hill does on the field. It's just an observation.
I believe I will trust Miles to make the right call as far as suspension and punishment I believe he has earned that right. I also believe he knows the whole situation and all the facts better than us keyboard coaches!! Now on to TCU
A lot of hypocrisy here. I get the entire Les Miles has earned our trust with his prior track record disciplining players. His track record is indeed very good relatively speaking to the Urban Meyers of this world. But the same people saying that they would be ok with no suspension would be up in arms if this was Bama's TJ Yeldon. As Red alluded to, he was ON PROBATION when this incident happened. He's very fortunate not to be in jail. Most ordinary citizens would be. I personally would like to see a 5 game suspension.
There are plenty of people here that want to see more punishment. As it is, Miles' track record speaks for itself. Who knows WHAT he's putting Hill through for this. I wouldn't want to be him right now, I can tell you that. And I'm sure that his playing time will certainly be diminished because of this. At the very least, he's behind in S&C. His production this year, and therefore possibly his draft stock next year, will suffer whether there is a true suspension or not. A talented guy like him getting buried in the depth chart and having to work his way back out is probably just as effective as a suspension.
