Who knows? Hill hasn't made a statement. If it is anything other than defending himself after being hit, he is still in trouble.
Ive heard the same story from 2 different people around the team, but the "victim" has a history of drunken brawls and was the instigator. But no doubt he could be in trouble.
So what happened? Some drunken troublemaker with a history of getting in fights got in his face and started calling him the n-word? When you are the first string running back on a national title contender you have to walk away from that. If the guy keeps coming at you, you continue to walk away until the other guy throws a punch. A lot easier said than done, but when you have millions of dollars riding on the line much is expected. This isn't the 60s when Art Cantrelle could go into bars looking to beat up anyone who dared to make eye contact with him.
As I said he could be in trouble and as you just said, its a lot easier said than done, you're not thinking about millions of dollars when someone is in your face calling you the n-word, especially as a black man, at some point you get tired of people provoking you in that manner. As you said, this isnt the 60's when people just said that and ran to the local sheriff with riot police, k-9 dogs, and high powered water hoses. With all that said, I probably would have walked away.
I dunno man. After we got into HS I had some fights only last one punch. I made it a point not to let anyone get within arm's length of me. If they did, I wasn't going to let it end on one punch from him. If the punk called Hill any type of racial slur I'm glad Hill dusted his azz.
