Hill wants the opportunity to play. I would assume that as long as this case is "open" and no resolution, his ability to have Miles reinstate him is 0%. Pleading guilty, putting it behind him, and then allowing Miles to decide on his punishment from the team will get him through the season and a possible shot at the NFL. Non guilty plea would have moved this to October or later, and at that point he would miss the season, and potentially miss his shot with the NFL (they seem to be cracking down on felons these days, or opportunities for felons). Smart move by Hill, not only to get back to the field, but also to one day say "I owned up to my part in this entire ordeal and am ready to learn from it and move forward."
"Still in effect" for how long is the question. If it's up through August he isn't available for TCU. If it's through September that would eliminate every game as well unless you play Auburn in the early or mid-afternoon kick. Surely LSU isn't playing Kent or UAB at any other time than the evening. Heck, when LSU gets into two-a-days it takes him out of practices that run past 9PM.
Here is the video: http://www.wbrz.com/videos/video-of-fight-involving-lsu-rb-jeremy-hill/ Doesn't look good as Hill really had to go out of his way to slug homeboy, but in my completely unbiased opinion, he did what he had to do. Can't believe that one dude at the end of it knew the other guy was filming it and didn't chunk his phone into the canal.
I watched the video and all I can say is that there were fights much worse than that every week in Tigerland in the late 80's/early 90's.
I'd like to see what preceded the video. The guy who delivered the knockout punch is running around in a completely ripped-up shirt. Also, the "victim" is pulling himself up off the ground at the beginning. I guess little douche-nozzle didn't think that was worthy of recording, for whatever reason. Somebody should out him, and have students around campus video him everytime they see him.
Maybe I'm missing something. What I saw on the video was essentially a sucker punch followed by another hit from a second person who came from behind. Anyone a piece a shit enough to do that needs to go.
Nah. Hill had the decency to get in front of the vic, giving him the perfect opportunity to defend himself. Now, the second punch, on the other hand. . .
