I guess Zach Mettenberger is also a thug (despite his whiteness). Didn't he lay-out Tharold once upon a time?

this is from the National Park Service's website. it details the story of this thug who was a trained and successful boxer that went nuts on some poor guy at a bar like an animal and knocked him unconscious. This thug's name? Teddy Roosevelt

    Teddy Roosevelt's Bar Fight

Though it may seem like a typical tall tale of the Old West, Theodore Roosevelt once found himself in a bar fight in Mingusville, MT (now Wibaux, MT), 35 miles west of Medora. ...
Roosevelt had been riding for his own enjoyment through the badlands and the prairies of western Dakota Territory and eastern Montana Territory for many days when he arrived at the Nolan’s Hotel in Mingusville. There, he encountered a man who, like others had done who did not know Roosevelt well, teased him about his glasses. Roosevelt described the incident in his own words in his autobiography:

“It was late in the evening when I reached the place. I heard one or two shots in the bar-room as I came up, and I disliked going in. But there was nowhere else to go, and it was a cold night. Inside the room were several men, who, including the bartender, were wearing the kind of smile worn by men who are making believe to like what they don’t like. A shabby individual in a broad hat with a cocked gun in each hand was walking up and down the floor talking with strident profanity. He had evidently been shooting at the clock, which had two or three holes in its face.
…As soon as he saw me he hailed me as ‘Four Eyes,’ in reference to my spectacles, and (he) said, ‘Four Eyes is going to treat.’ I joined in the laugh and got behind the stove and sat down, thinking to escape notice. He followed me, however, and though I tried to pass it off as a jest this merely made him more offensive, and he stood leaning over me, a gun in each hand, using very foul language… In response to his reiterated command that I should set up the drinks, I said, ‘Well, if I’ve got to, I’ve got to,’ and rose, looking past him.
As I rose, I struck quick and hard with my right just to one side of the point of his jaw, hitting with my left as I straightened out, and then again with my right. He fired the guns, but I do not know whether this was merely a convulsive action of his hands, or whether he was trying to shoot at me. When he went down he struck the corner of the bar with his head… if he had moved I was about to drop on my knees; but he was senseless.
...Before coming to Dakota, Roosevelt was a successful boxer at Harvard....

This thread is about player generated negative publicity, is it not? The Penn State coaching scandal is in a class of its own.

Since when did "thug" become associated with a certain skin color? I'm not a big consumer of popular culture/media so perhaps I've missed some evolution of the word? One could say the phrase "middle-aged white men" is laden with racial and aegistic overtones. Either you are correct and _some_ "middle-aged white men" use "thug" as a racially laden code word, or you are wrong and projecting your own bias.

I couldnt care less about the skin color of the guilty parties. Bad behavior is bad behavior and one shouldnt make excuses for it. Drug use, sucker punches, bar brawls etc show the University in poor light. I fail to see how this is a racial issue.

I have to pass your litmus test because I'm irked by "LSU" and "arrested" being mentioned twice on ESPN's front page on the same day? Your premise is that any fan who finds this distasteful is a racist? Really?

When it comes to individual stupity, i don't think anybody who represents the P&G has come close to the standard you set. Or are you now denying that you wrote this:

“ While LSU may not lead in total arrest
numbers, I'd be surprised if it doesnt lead
in total negative nationwide coverage over
    the last few years."

So when asked if you have any black friends, you plead the 5th and change the subject. In other words, no.
    Next question:
    Do you hate black people?

Blah blah blah. Roosevelt punching a guy verbally abusing him while waving two guns in his face is related to LSU football how? What the frick is your point? That barfights are okay because a president-to-be was once in one? That LSU fans should be happy when a player is suspended for a bar brawl? That people who dont like barbrawls are middle-aged white guys with no black friends?
