Les would likely dismiss him before he suspends him for a whole season. Hill isn't going to hang around for a year. I think he'll get the same 1-game suspension that Wing got unless the misdemeanor becomes a felony or he goes to jail for probation violation. In which case he will be suspended for at least a semester, possibly a year, by LSU itself.

Attacking the guy from behind as he was trying to walk away for damn sure removes any case that he was just angry from being insulted and acted on impulse. Hitting a guy with his back turned in the head is an ambush and a cowardly one at that. Then he lies to a cop about it. Assault, battery, and obstruction.

We have to start recruiting players with more character than this.

I think it speaks well of LSU's fans that instead of looking for excuses to keep him, we are letting the evidence rule and in spite of his importance to the team letting the right trump.

Can you elaborate on why? I mean that video evidence sounds pretty damning? Is it due to the fact this guy has repeatedly caused issues etc? Understand if you cannot share the info.

Because punching somebody is a misdemeanor (a minor crime). Had Hill stabbed him with a knife or shot him with a gun, that would be a felony (a major crime).

When i was a student at LSU, the first time i got caught commiting a on-campus misdemeanor where the cop didn't let me off with a warning, what happened was instead of having a misdemeanor charge brought against me, LSU placed me on disciplinary probation, it went on my transcript and everything. Had i continued to get caught committing misdemeanors on campus, the next steps would be to suspend me from school for a couple days, and if i continued getting caught with misdemeanors after that, I'd be facing expulsion. I did get caught commiting two other misdemeanors while i was an LSU student where the cop didn't let me off...both happened right off campus and involved the Baton Rouge police. The Dean of Students was never told about my two later misdemeanors, but even if he had been, I'm not sure he's have cared since they both happened off campus.

Point is, with on-campus misdemeanors commited while being a student at LSU, the strictest i could imagine LSU being is 1st strike probation, 2nd strike suspended from school for a few days, third strike you're gone, and that is the strictest i could imagine a very strict Baptist school bringing, i don't think most schools would even be that strict

As for Hill, this is his first strike at LSU, and it didn't happen on-campus

Now if we were talking felonies, that's a different story.

Thank you for the explanation, that makes sense now. I guess I was a goody two shoe. I'm never been accused of anything, only time I've ever been in court even was for a speeding ticket.

The general feel from some near to the situation. As of today the word was charges weren't going to be pressed but that could change. THe DA and LSU saw the tape the day the incident was reported in the news outlets. The DA is quoted as leaning to it staying a Simple Battery case which is a misdemeanor because the hit by Hill didn't knock the victim unconscious and the DA is saying this after viewing the tape. I am sure publicity could come into play and make this a nightmare like during the Shady's incident but I don't think you will see Miles and the BRPD investigators supplying many quotes on the incident like last time. THat was handled horribly by everyone involved and I don't think those mistakes are made again or at least on that scale.

Wow lotsa things going on in this thread! I just wish people would be judged by the content of their character, not their color.......I also hope this video of Hill doesn't go viral, I'm sure the court of public opinion would not be kind. Hopefully it just stays quiet , he cleans up his act a little running sprints and he's ready for football this fall.....I Hope!!
