"Average" might be giving them both a little too much credit. However even Ray Charles can see that Harris has the higher ceiling. It's been beat to death already, but Imagine that Harris was given any real playing time over the second half of the season, where could he be now? Miles played it ultra safe, sacrificed this years potential and slanted the competition greatly in Jennings favor. Putting that aside, neither has shown the ability to take the job from the other. Neither has shown that they are ready to be more than just average. Based on the past, I fully expect MIles to once again go ultra conservative, name Jennings the permanent starter and go all Schembechler on us, feeding LSU fans a steady diet of 3 yards and a cloud of dust. It's definitely the safe play, but won't result in competing for a championship of any kind. Look for another 8-9 win season, which is very good, but don't expect the Mad Hatter to reappear, he is dead and gone. I support both Jennings and Harris, I just wish Miles would return to his play to win style that made him famous and give up the just win enough to keep your job baby attitude that has relegated us to playing for second place in the SEC West each year.
Miles has to actually put him ON the field for him to do so. Why did he play almost ZERO snaps the last half of the season? Was Jennings so good they just couldn't put Harris in even for mop up duty?
being a qb is a lot more about what's between your ears than who has the strongest arm or the fastest wheels. Sure you have to have an arm, you can't be Stephen Hawking playing the position, a mind isn't the only thing but to me it's crucial, and I don't think either can process what they see and understand what they must do quickly enough.
