It could end up the same as late season last year. Teams will put 8 in the box to stuff our inside running game and dare Jefferson to throw the ball. On the other hand we do have a balanced offense and have improved in each game. We need both a downfield passing game and a more sophisticated rushing attack. I think we will see them both implemented gradually.

Agreed. I look for us to have a strong offensive game against Miss St. JJ will come around and find success on the deep ball. The running game will open up.

I like the balance and I think the offense will continue to improve. But I am beginning to wonder if Jefferson will be able to establish the long ball at all this year. He didn't just miss one or two - he was way off and timing was very bad. As Parso said, this is the only thing keeping this team from threatening Florida right now. But it's a big "thing". Personaly, I think the coaches should force him to either gain the timing and confidence or bring Lee in. A national run will require a complete QB - throw him/them in the fire.

I agree with this totally. Lee was not given the comfort of trying to progress over numerous games against a soft opening schedule... he was thrown into Auburn, UGA, Florida, Bama... I mean damn... Lee was set up to fail last season. JJ is awesome but he's missing something at this very moment... and while he lacks in legs, Lee is superior in arm.

Just so I'm not misunderstood. I'm not advocating throwing the season or benching Jefferson. I'm expecting that Jefferson will either find his long ball touch soon or Lee is going to see the field. Because there is championship talent on both sides of the ball and the coaches aren't going to pass up opportunities just to play it safe. Purely my opinion.

sure, but the smart money says turnovers will go way up when lsu starts playing UGA, UF, and Bama.

I'd rather risk interceptions than be utterly predictable and stagnant.

I am giving him a chance, I want to say he had a off-game.
It seems to me he has less leeway, then Lee had with some people,
even though he has been interception free, except for Saturday.
I think he will get better and to write him off this early is a bit premature. Until his play is the reason why we are losing games. I'll give him my support, just as I did with Lee.

Some people here act like the guy has never hit a deep ball. smh

Happens to the best of them. He's not on the hot seat yet.

    What are you suggesting?

I don't think Jefferson has lost support. But his arm is being questioned with some genuine concern. Neither do I think is it "writing off Jefferson" to give Lee and Shepard some playing time to see what they can do.

We're lining up three top receiving recruits in the country in the last three years and they are getting open. Jefferson has to hit them consistently or Les must find someone who can. We cannot leave those weapons unused.

I think he is using them. His touch on the deep ball needs some serious work. But short and intermediate routes, I think he is money on those routes. People dont seem to realize that our lack of a running game is an issue with the passing game as well. Once we show we can run the ball consistently, I think the deep ball will open up more. Also, the offensive line hasnt been all that great with giving him alot of time.
Im not suggesting anything, I am seriously pointing out the fact of how short peoples memories are from last year. He isnt turning the ball over at a high rate like last year, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt until we show improvement in our running game and offensive line.

Now what are you suggesting, that I am suggesting. Im sure I can have an opinon that is counter to yours without any problems.

To suggest that he isnt using our receivers is really short sighted, imo.
And why cant we give Jefferson the chance to get better with decent performances before suggesting we bring someone else in. Lee had that chance.
