NO .... JJ is better is certain situation, and Lee is better in others. JJ adds a dimension or two with regards to playing a safe game and running the ball. The "rush" numbers of the last two games are more a function of the opponents defenses than they are a function of JJ being in the game. Lee could have just as easily run up 40-50 points on WKU and OM, as did JJ. Lee came in in both games, and drove the ball right down the field for a TD. This Friday is the test. AR ain't no WKU or OM. Our offense is not going to be able to just sit back and let the defense shut out the opponent, while we score at will. ... even with our third string QB and RB set. All said, we should feel very comfortable that we have two QBs who are capable of comming in and scoring points, and winning games. It all goes back to the original threads on this subject .... JJ or Lee don't have to be Bad, for the other one to be "Good". I still don't think either will be playing in the pros next year.
We are not going to be down 2 TDs to Arkansas. Don't be ridiculous. You should start basing your opinions on facts, btw.
you mean like the fact they have beaten us 3 of the last 4 years. you mean like the fact that Arky is a top 10 passing offense (in nearly every statistical category)? Wait, what was the other team we played in the top 10 in this category ... WVU? How many yards did they put up on us? Did they have SEC talent at WR? Who was our QB the last 3 years? ridiculous ....
You're basing that on W. Kentucky and an Ole Miss D that couldn't stop my grandmother from running up the middle. 1. The option works against the vaunted Bama rushing defense as Georgia Southern and LSU proved. 2. JJ is a very good option QB. 3. JL run a great play action. 4. ZM is the bomb on a naked bootleg. But I do agree that we beat Arky with a ball-control, eat up the clock offense.
No, he's right, he's thinking about the wrong season and it wasn't the Super Bowl. Pre-Montana to the Chiefs, Steve Young came in and led the team on a great stretch while Montana was injured. When Montana got healthy, he took over the team for I think the final regular season game and the playoffs. I believe they lost to the Cowboys in the NFC title game. The next season, Montana was in KC and Steve Young was the starter.
Why don't you JJ bashers just come out and say it. You don't want a black QB. Objective fans realize that Lee is cooked. The Bama game brought back all of those bad memories and he's tentative and scared again. We can't take the chance just to spare his feelings.
And you're forgetting that even though WVU passed for a zillion yards against us and scored 21 points, we beat them by 26 points. Defense will rule the day, and our defense is the one that will rule. Not theirs. We will be able to run on Arkansas. They will get their 21 points, too, but we'll score more and win the TOP.
Stick your racism in your ear. LSU has had black quarterbacks for 30 years, nobody cares anymore. Nobody has said one word about it except Fang. It's about the wisdom of benching a quarterback that is 9-0 as a starter this year. If Jefferson is anything but 5-0, there will be a lot of talk on the board. Get used to it. I haven't seen this and you haven't either. He's barely gotten the ball since then and only in mop-up duty.
I'm staying away from the race angle (although I have personally witnessed this be an issue this year outside this forum). I do agree with Lee being cooked. He's great with perfect protection. No doubt about it. But no O-line can be perfect. We've seen what he does under pressure THIS YEAR. Noone can take away from what the guy has done this year. He stepped up in a major way. But you cannot ignore that THIS YEAR, he has not been all that poised under on the field pressure. The pressure of stepping into the starter's role is not the same. With a blitzer bearing down, he's shown a tendency to bend over and brace for impact (which was always several steps away) rather than move up in the pocket. He did that a few times. Against Bama, he had a rough outing...under pressure. The rest of this year is pressure. JJ is better under pressure. I think the world of JL, but he ain't all that tough. Skill for skill, he probably beats JJ. Intangible for intangible, it ain't close. That is what I believe Les is preparing for. Those situations where intangibles mean a helluva lot more than skills. JJ is a different guy out there thus far. He just is. If you weren't impressed by him staring down the blitzer and delivering that strike (I don't care that it was just Ole Miss...it was also just a free shot at the QB where JL would've folded...like he did against Northwestern St.), then you're just biased.
