I would like to know who it was as well! White has better than average arm strength and trmendous accuracy. If there is anything that hurts him in the draft, it is his lack of mobility since his two knee surgeries. His arm strength and accuracy were unknowns before this season but when I saw him toss it 70 yards in the air and hit the receiver in stride, the pass was dropped by B. Jones, my chin dropped as well. No, arm strength should not be a concern. Boomer Sooner!!
LOL@anyone who thinks he's coming back to improve draft status...He's coming back because next year is his last 15 minutes of fame... The guy isn't mobile. Plain and simple...Name me ONE guy that's a successful NFL quarterback who can't evade the rush? White's a decent quarterback, but he'll be another, poor-man's version of Gino Torretta if he ever sacks up and tries to play at the next level... An also-ran former Heisman Trophy Winner who can't move around the pocket, can't evade pressure, and can't stay healthy. Hey, Sooner fans...get ready...Vince Young will be 1st team All Big XII next year, White will be 2nd team All Big XII, and then... Can you say, Undrafted Free Agent?
BTW-Red55, just to let you know, Rusty Medaris of Miami got a 6th year a few years back, but he had to retire midway through that last year... He got blessed by the knee ligament gene, too, only he had total reconstructions of one knee, and total reconstruction of the other-TWICE. He played his entire HS and collegiate career in pain...
from the article ... NCAA bylaw 30.6.1, the five-year, 10-semester waiver. Student-athletes have five years in which to complete four years of eligibility. The bylaw stipulates that when a student-athlete’s eligiblity is interrupted by circumstances beyond personal control, such as injury, the five-year period may be extended. White suffered a back injury in 1999 and a season-ending knee injury in 2002 in a game against Alabama. Both resulted in hardship rulings for White, which made him eligible to petition for another season. The knee injury he incurred against Nebraska in 2001 had no bearing on the ruling since it came after the midway point in that season. White will never see a down of PRO ball. He's too damn short, too damn slow, too damn damaged ... AND EVERYONE KNOWS IT. This was his last game in Football ... until he got another year ... seems he doesn't have much luck against smashmouth SEC teams
Jason was allowed to red shirt his freshman year, and that is the only red shirt he received. Now, he is being given a medical hardship due to his knee injury in 2002, which is the only one he is being given.
Just when did you become an expert on our quarterback? Did you watch very many of his games this year or are you one who subscribes to the theory that we didn't really play anyone? Trust me, the health of his two knees are the only question the NFL scouts have about Jason. According to most of the scouts, he throws one of the best deep balls in college football and the scouts are drooling over his accuracy. However, no one is going to invest any money in a quarterback who has questionable knees. Give him another year, and then see what they say.
He may not have another full game in him ... yet alone a year ... seems those SMASHMOUTH SEC teams do "things" to the BOY. Alabama cured his "running ability" ... permanently. Tough luck. The NFL Scouts don't even have White in their TOP 10 list of QBs ... 2004 Draft Projections, where Roethlesberger & Manning are 1-2 ... so get over it ... and get the NET ... he's not PRO mat'l. I have watched OU film on 6 games this year ... and was not overly impressed with his "spot" passing and shredding of Little 12's zone Dees ... hey ... he can beat zone Dees and SPOT PASS ... big friggin' deal, he's a one-trick pony ... Mauck EATS ZONE DEES ALIVE ... and can handle pressure and can run a 4.6 forty ... where White can't, i hear his forty time is near 5.0 ... In the last 3 games played where teams have started "TEEING OFF" on White, he has struggled and lost huge yardage. The word is out ... Blitz White, hit him repeatedly and keep hitting him ... RIGHT UNDER THE CHINSTRAP! ZONE DEFENSE IS PEEWEE BALL HERE IN THE SEC ... where the Deer and the Antelope play ... catch up with the times, homer Welcome to the Jungle!
Puhlease. He went down with a fluke knee-injury against a SMASHMOUTH Nebraska team in 2001 without being touched. Then he went down with the same injury on the opposite knee against Alabama in 2002 without being touched! So, if he was playing freeze tag with his aunt Maxine kids in the back yard and suffered this same injury then in would have been aunt Maxine's kids that "cured his 'running ability'... permanently?" You are so clueless! As you like to say so frequently.... you are dismissed! Boomer Sooner!!
