i agree but can you imagine the outcry if he left under smoke?  ah perspectives. however, if you dont think coaches have exceptions for their top players you're kidding yourself.
Well, look for that position to be filled by Jared Mitchell and/or Chad Jones this season and next. :thumb:
After some of the game performances of the last couple of seasons, maybe an old fashion shake up of the team is what is needed. I think Coach M is a making the right moves turn things around and return the Tigers back into one of the elite programs in the SEC and nationally. ldskule: :bball:
True, but the wages are nothing to write home about. 11.7 scholarships divided amongst all the players usually gives none a huge piece of the pie. In this case though, if the glove don't fit, he's gotta split.
yea, but they should want to work as hard as possible so they can make millions in the pros.:geauxtige
I applaud CPM for trying to do the right thing by running a classy program, but jeez man, Bogany had some of the most insane skills I've ever seen (when I saw him play in HS.) I realize that he may be using LSU as a stepping stone, but so what if he helps us to a a CWS championship? Maybe CPM is doing too much right now at the expense of success? I think he is.
There may be more to this than we know. If a kid is not going to put forth 100% effort and is allowed to get away with that attitude, it could be a cancer on the team. The players that are working their butts off are going to resent any "pass" that kid gets. A few years ago ('04 maybe?) one of the Tulane starters missed a team meeting on the morning of a game at Cal State Fullerton in the Super Regionals. He was late cause he went to breakfast with his parents and they got lost on the way back. The kid missed the meeting so he was suspended from playing. Even though it was not his fault and it was a super regional game. A lot of coaches have rules that they feel have to be enforced at any cost as a means of being fair to all players. I am not gonna judge Mainieri on this one decision. I am gonna wait and see how the overall attitude of the team this year is. If coach has to get really tough to instill a new attitude in the team, so be it.
No doubt. I don't know any details about the situation, but if he was "kicked off" I guess it must be for a good reason. However, if he chose to go somewhere else because of the coaching, I think that is too-bad.
An article (campus newspaper, I think) quoted Coach M saying he told Bogany he did not have a starting job locked up. The tone of the article seemed to be that was the reason the kid left. Maybe his not going 100% or at least enough for Coach M, was the reason he did not have the starting job locked up. Don't know. But again, after the results the past couple of years, I'll give Coach M credit for taking charge. Something has to change. We'll have to waite and see if he is successful, but I really think he is making the right moves. ldskule:
