I'll buy that. And let me just say this. I do think that Russell will be the starter come fall, if healthy. If he can overcome his mental errors and grasp the academics of the game (which can certainly come with the right amounts of hard work and coaching), he could very well be Heisman material. My support of Flynn comes from the fact that he's much further along than is JR in this area, and that is critical to being a successful QB. If JR shows little to no improvement in that respect, I'd like to see Matt takeover. At the collegiate level, physical talent is just a plus. Either way, I'm not going to root for one guy to fail because of some silly argument. I want what's best for the team. And I absolutely cannot endure another season of seeing all this blazing speed and tremendous talent get underutilized. If that means the James Welker needs to be at the helm, then so be it. But I'm tired of barely beating opponents that whose asses we should be stomping a mudhole in. :geauxtige
I was trying to point out that the only reason to compare Jamarcuss Russell to Aaron Brooks is because they're both black quarterbacks in the state of Louisiana (not anymore for Brooks). Other than that, I don't see any real comparison, except they both have very strong arms. Brooks is a good scrambling quarterback, Jamarcuss is more of a pocket quarterback. Jamarcuss has also displayed way more heart and desire in his performances than Aaron Brooks could have ever dreamed. As far as Flynn/Mauck, yeah they're both white quarterbacks named Matt. I personally haven't seen enough of Flynn to bring any other comparisons.
