Thanks guys for understanding. I didn't realize that ya'll had discussed this topic so many times before. I just wanted to see what the different opinions were. Someone should run a poll with JR, Flynn, and Perilloux on it. By the way I live in the Hahville high school area and when East St. John played Hahnville with Perilloux the starting quarterback I wasn't that impressed. He did run very well and gained rushing yards, but continually missed his throws. Their was plenty of oppurtunity to make some plays and he just didn't. Hahnville won 34-25 or something in that range. Go TIGERS both LSU and Hahnville!
We lack experience at the OL, DL & LBers positions. IMO, QB & RB are secondary at this point until these other younger players gel. :geauxtige
If Les is letting press or popular opinion steer his decisions, we have much bigger problems on our hands...
JR assuming his wrist is healed. I am not going to put the descrepancy between te Appalachian State game and the Miami game solely on JR. There were likely a lot of factors at work.
QB play will not win us a National Championship... But QB play could lose the National Championship for us. In my opinion, QB play in college is more about leading your team, getting the ball to the skilled players and not beating your own team by trying to do to much. The most critical part of running LSU's offense this year is taking the snap and getting the ball to the mass of skilled guys we have. If the QB trys to do to much himself it will hurt us. My vote is for Flynn because I think he gives us a better chance of getting the ball to the skilled guys and "not beating us". A better discussion would be do we think our OL will dominate and open enough holes for the skilled guys. Or... will our young DL be able to control the line of scrimmage. Both of which I think the answer is yes. We all know we have depth and skills in the secondary, but my concern is our linebackers. Our we deep enough at LB to withstand some injures? Luke Sanders is suppose to be a stud but he has been injury prone. If the DL clogs the holes who is going to be making tackles?
If JR is a 9 passer and Flynn is an 8, then I take Flynn because of his running ability... I've always prefered a QB who, when no one is open, can pick up 3-5 yards on the ground instead of a throw away or a forced pass...
2 coaching staffs have both said that JaMarcus manages a game better than Flynn, makes reads just as well, and is an all around better QB.
