Red55 says it all right there. This board would be a better place with more posters like himself.
I say start JR, play flynn... Let Flynn come in for a series here and there, for special plays that allow a pass-run option (fisher likes those)... If JR struggles, Flynn will be able to step right in..
FLYNN to WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumb: :usaflagwa :geauxtige :champs: :crystal:
Short leash is the key...regardless of who starts. We've got way too damn much talent behind whomever may be on the field and at wideout to have an underachieving QB for the third consecutive year. This could potentially be one of the most explosive offenses in the country if we could get a little consistency (see: Peach Bowl).
I concur loco: The OC should be ready to utilize both athletes to the teams advantage. I think JR and MF have played together long enough that they are, along with the rest of the team, ready to do whatever it takes to win a ball game. Not many teams in the past have been successful with duel QB's as far as winning a MNC goes but the dynamics of college football coaching is changing and we could be the team to do it. On paper it works,on the field it does not. This is just my opinion.
Of course JR should be the QB. No need for the opinion to blow in the breeze because Flynn looked good v. Miami. JR is the starter, BUT whoever gives LSU the best chance to win should start. And NOBODY HERE will know that answer. End of story. And yea, Red's right...I almost flamed away too because I'm just sick to death of the imagined "QB controversy."
YES!! consistency is a major factor in this years team. IF there are no major storms that devestate the entire region and IF we don't have major injuries at running back position the LSU FOOTBALL team WILL compete for the MNC. What brings any team to play in the MNC game is a lot of good athletes,a lot of good coaching and a lot of good breaks during the season. I personally have a lot of faith in CLM and his squad of players. Coach Miles knows what he is doing!
You guys are right, I shouldn't have been such a smart-ass. Truly though, I was doing it for the benefit of the regulars here that get ticked at each other over this subject, myself included. Sorry LSUtitan, welcome to the board.
I don't care who starts, who is the backup, and who is the reserve. Jimbo could have worse problems than having depth like this to play with. I think he takes advantage of it just like he does with depth at WR or RB. We've got a drop-back guy with a rifle arm when we need it. We have a scrambler with poise when we need that. We may even have a guy who can do it all. I can see Jimbo and Les playing all three quarterbacks. We have lost QBs to season ending injuries and we need all three experienced and capable of playing in the SEC. What would be ideal would be for the starter to play most of the first half with the backup getting at least two drives in the second quarter. The starter should start the second half and turn it over to the backup in the 3rd quarter after scoring again. The reserve should come in the 4th quarter. That would work if we are ahead. And if the game is tight or we are trailing, Jimbo has the flexibility to play whichever QB is most effective. I don't believe that playing two quarterbacks causes problems unless they are both not up to speed (Ainge and Clausen last year) or (Randall and Russell in 2004). But if you have three quarterbacks with SEC-caliber talent you can rotate them like any other position on the field.
