Jamarcuss Russell or Vincent Young

we'll see...JaMarcuss is listed as 3rd string right now if Randall/Mauck went down to injury...he still has 8 months to learn to playbook too

 

Young has potential to be a great one - just like Flynn and Russell. We like our guys more cause they're ours.

 

Sure we like ours better but I still don't like havening an athlete at quarterback. I like a QB that can throw a tight sprial with good touch.

 

well, Saban was recruiting Young as a WR. thats one of the reasons he chose texas over LSU. infact, Lester Ricard out played Young in the LSU camp that year.

as far as Flynn starting over Russel...it very well could happen, but right now Russel is the #3 guy. Saban gave him a huge compliment as well....saying that its very difficult to start in the SEC as a freshmen, but if anybody could do it...Russel could.

 

Grad 99, I heard Saban say earlier in the year that Flynn would probably be the guy they would go with this year, in the event of injuries and a freshman was needed. However, he indicated that the reason was Flynn is more suited for the offense designed for Matt Mauck.
If Matt leaves there will be a change in the offense, probably more like the offense that Rohan Davey ran. That would be more suited for Russell.

 

JR is listed #3 on the depth chart but don't read anything into any of that right now. Saban would have to decide among many factors including who would he want around for 4 more years instead of 3, who would handle the pressure better at this time of his career, etc. Remember, he said he didn't have the courage to put one of them in earlier in the year referring to blowing a redshirt so even if one of them did get to play this year it may have nothing to do with who he thought was going to better in the future.
