    Not a Mauck Fan

Mauck is not the QB of the future for LSU. He is a "bide some time" QB until Saban can get his Blue Chips ready to play. Randall missed a golden opportunity to transfer to a I-AA school and start/win for his last 2 years. McNeese/Southern would have been extremely excited to get a I-A QB with starting experience. As long as Mauck doesn't get hurt or lose any games the way Jamie Howard did against AU a few years back (4 INTs), he will finish out the year as the starter.

Saban will attempt to redshirt both QBs, especially since one hasn't separated himself from the other up to this point. Once both freshman have all the skills they need, expect them to have a major battle for the starting job next season and Mauck and Randall will have seen the last of PT at LSU.

One more problem Saban will have is recrutiing QBs in the next 2 seasons. Same reason we are stuck with Mauck and Randall now. The last 3 QBs before these 2 guys are all playing NFL ball right now. Couldn't get a guy in here because there was no PT available. When we did (Ricard), he redshirted, and then transferred. A bad cycle that we have to break.

I respectfully disagree. Barring injury Mauck's maturity, decision making and all around smarts will keep him behind center until he leaves LSU. He's got all the earmarks of a winner.

I'm with SabanFan here. Unless Mauck and/or Randall totally screw the pooch this year they will not be passed in the depth chart. Except for maybe one being passed at #2.

Captian, I don't mind being stuck with Mauck. We could have a lot worse, see Jason Campbell. It seems that we have a good cycle going on here, three former QB's in the NFL, Mauck has a chance, and two Blue Chip freshman QB's. And you say we have to break the cycle?

I said that barring major injury or screwup, Mauck will be the starter all year. He isn't winning games on his own ability, but he's not losing them either. He's playing because he is the best (and only real) option at this point in time.

From my seats in the N endzone, Mauck just doesn't have the intuition to play QB. Even as a JR, he still locks in on targets and fails to look off his primary receiver to come back to him. Can't do that against SEC caiber DBs, or it is INTville. LSU's receivers continue to make Mauck shine, which is good for our team.

On a positive note, Mauck's passes do look better than last season, and it is obvious he has put in a lot of work to improve. Better /= Good.

PS - If we had a QB this season, Clayton would be a finalist for the Heisman.

Whatcha want....Eli? He has "intuition" yet he HAS lost games!!

PS- Check the lineup....we DO have a QB. If you gonna be a fan, be a fan of the whole team! Geez, 2-0 after putting up 108 pts yet we don't have a QB?!? Get over it!:cuss:

    Hey Dabbs.

Haven't missed a home game since '92. Attended several road games, and most Bowl games. The TEAM is playing very well, and Saban and his staff deserve the credit for that.

If you want comparisions, it is like UF when they had Wuerffel. Surround an avg QB with outstanding players and the guy wins the Heisman. Maybe Mauck could be a candidate for the Hesiman this year...They were trying to throw Eli in with no players around him.

And believe me, I am way over the fact that we have an average starting QB. Geaux Tigers!!!

Me too. I truly want him to convince me he can play QB in the SEC, and further, put our Team in the National Championship hunt. Maybe some think I am too critical, but he hasn't convinced me yet.

I wanna see him overcome adversity in a big game. Want to see him show that he can orchestrate a game winning drive. I want to see him consistently make plays that win games for this team. I want a reason to scream in the stands. Then he will have demonstrated the leadership, determination, and ability that we are all looking for in a starting QB for LSU.
